Hey guys,

Don't know too much about Rolex watches, have been more drawn to omegas (mostly due to price!). But i saw this watch come up for auction at a local house and was wondering how 'damaged' you thought it was just from this picture. I would ask for more photos but the bidding begins soon online!

The crystal is smashed. No way to know what happened to the dial and movement.

Looks like water on the dial to me. Bad news for the movement.

This is depressing to say the least

Looks as though it has been through a house fire to me.

Burned, then doused with water. 馃槻

That watch is what we would call in Joizey "f蠀cked up". 馃榿 Or, FUBAR since acronyms are all the rage recently.

Haha, this is a reply from the auctioneers

"pieces of crystal have lodged under the hands preventing any movement . I think the second hand has moved as it is in a different position now to the photo , but the hands cannot be turned . so ultimately I cannot report on its mechanical condition"

I agree with Darlinboy's house fire suggestion.

It's coming up on auction in an hour or so, I was tempted by the price as well...perhaps good for the bezel.

I put it a conservative bid, probably too low but we'll see. Didn't want to pay too much for a paper weight!

Bidding ended at $3750 before 20% (25% for internet bidding) additional fee.

Why? [emoji24]

I blame it on the autoconnect.

Alot of money for a paper weight

Especially when you consider one of the next lots contained these, along with some other bits and ends. That lot went for $225 before buyer premium!

So total $4,300. That does not sound bad for a 1680. Buyer should be able to make some $$ from it..
