I for one, have always found ways to wear my more valuable vintage pieces without any apprehension when I was an office worker. When I did my trucking gig (flatbed), iI had some rugged and inexpensive watches to wear and wore the valuable collectibles at home when I was back from my trips. I guess it depends on your lifestyle and motivation to own one of these.

Yes, that’s not a concern. The concern would be losing the original basically flawless bezel. And I don’t actually mind chipping the bezel a bit, but the dial is the centerpiece for me (well, that and the 321) and damaging it would be … well, lousy.
If you wear daily then this is bound to happen. You shouldn't have any apprehensions or you'll find it hard to enjoy wearing it.

Given the state of the pusher + the grime visible on the watch + an intent on wearing this watch regularly = I would consider having this watch serviced to preserve 321 movement + to change gaskets, etc.

What do you guys think?

not sure what grime you’re referring to unless you mean the discoloration on the pushers which is obviously greatly magnified in the photos. The movement is in immaculate shape, as you can see in photo 8 on the dealer’s site (I wouldn’t dare open the case myself) https://mentawatches.com/product/sold-watches/omega-pre-moon-speedmaster-8/

Well, these pics are very helpful… and would validate IMHO, that this watch is in need of a service.
Look at the grime on the stems of the pushers, between the crystal and the bezel and some parts of the case that show a bit of rust. Look at the condition of the gasket in the pic showing the movement: it is full of gunk and even shows parts that are a bit rusty.

NOTHING is the end of the world, and this is a VERY nice watch, but it could benefit from some love from a qualified watchmaker. Let us know where you are located and members will be happy to make recommendations for you.

Good luck and do enjoy this beauty. It makes me VERY happy to read that you are planning on wearing this daily. 👍

Thanks. I’m in Silicon Valley but not opposed to shipping elsewhere for the right level of expertise.

Easy solution. Get a second Speedy for daily wear. That's what I did. 😀

Wear it, life is too short for it! It's what I've been thinking after seeing people around me pass away very unexpectedly and abruptly.

Thanks, but that’s not me. It would drive me crazy having two of the same watches but only wearing one. I have plenty of other watches I can wear daily but a pre moon Speedy has always been one of my grails - and in my humble opinion only, the best watch ever made - and just having it on my wrist makes me smile in a way no Rolex, Patek or AP could match. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So if I understand well - the main reason for not wearing it daily is the scarcity of replacement parts and thereby the cost of repairing it? Would the same apply to a 145022 and within that reference, would it be different from wearing a '70s vs a '90s on a daily basis?

IMHO watches are made to be worn. Just, maybe, think twice about wearing it before chopping some wood, scuba diving or taking a space walk. 👍

Get yourself a 3570.50 and wear the hell out of it.

Keep this one for when you’re feeling sexy.

Nope, that’s not it at all. And as far as I can tell there’s no shortage of replacement parts. The point is not wanting to mess up the originality (and in particular the original lume plots).

Yes, a 145.022 would be different for me because it’s never been a grail of mine and so I don’t think I’d care about originality nearly as much.

I had a 3570.50 for years and in hindsight that was a huge mistake. I couldn’t ever bring myself to pull the trigger on a pre-moon with a 321 when I already had the contemporary visually-identical model. So every time I was in the market for a new watch, I ended convincing myself to buy something else. That’s not necessarily rational, but I’ve always kept my collection to 3-8 watches and I couldn’t wrap my head around having two nearly identical watches from such a small collection. So I bought the obligatory Sub, and Royal Oak, and a bunch of Seamasters, etc etc etc, and none of them ever felt like anything more than another fungible watch in my collection. When I finally unloaded the 3570.50 and gave myself permission to hunt for a 321, it was like a weight was lifted off of my shoulders. I realized this has always been the watch I wanted more than anything else and I’d stupidly talked myself out of buying one in multiple occasions.

Anyway, that’s more detail than you need into my irrational watch collecting tendencies but suffice it to say, I don’t see wearing a different model daily as a substitute for the real thing, as great of a watch as the 3570.50 (and all the other x861 Speedmasters) may be.

Then you should wear it every day and enjoy it, nothing more to say.

If any accident happens, then take it from there.

Now let us have that wristshot.... please!
