The post office delivers 472 million pieces of mail PER DAY.
Last month I ordered something from the UK and Chicago customs had it for 3 weeks.
Last Friday I ordered something from the UK, Chicago customs processed it in one day, and it’s already out for delivery.
It’s been greatly hit or miss.
It does have tracking. Last update shows “in transit” on July 21.
Looks like this one is a miss. Tracking still says "out for delivery." The mail was delivered but there is no package.
400 milliion pieces of junk mail. 🙁
Junk mails not the issue. Pre sorted delivered to the distribution center is little load on the system.
there are other issues... esp with what happened Friday.
What happened Friday?
Can anyone beat my delay record?
Ordered something from Malaysia that was shipped priority on May 23rd...
Had it investigated, it’s still in customs in Los Angeles and has been there since the end of May. 👎
Incorrectly filled out customs papers?
The USPS agent said there was nothing unusual about the delay right now.
Has me thinking about how on earth they have the space to accommodate a couple months worth of backed up packages.
I believe they are supposed to rescan each night if the package did not get moved on.
May be so, but the infrastructure is massive/ extensive, and not easy to change. Still, it's cheaper than flying every piece to a central distribution facility and then back out to regions. Not sure I want each letter or bill to cost $9.00 to send.
Obviously CV has had a huge impact, what are your experiences on international shipping at the moment.
Pre-CV it was generally 10-14 days for a U.K.-US shipment.
I have some small low value shipments, with tracking taking over 5 weeks to arrive. Royal Mail -> USPS.
Normal in today’s environment? Would it make you more nervous on higher value transactions? Would you start to look at 24/48hr Fedex/UPS options?[/QUOT would make me more nervous on higher value transactions
