Just picked up this adorable 14kt watch, sadly with a slightly broken balance.
Can anyone please identify the calibre please? It is 19mm across and I am wondering if I am likely to find a Ronda staff anywhere in London or New York? (or anywhere)
I'd say caliber 700. A closer look at the pictures you've uploaded tells me this is a woman's watch. In which case it is not a 10 1/2 ligne caliber 700, but more likely an 7 1/2 ligne caliber 1100. They look pretty much the same. Good luck on the balance staff. Let us know if you succeed. As a last resort, I have a complete running movement which is in good shape. Note that it is running in the picture I uploaded. Look for a private message.
Glad to dredge up this thread with an update but I took the dial off and suddenly can see the number 7¾H on it. Curiously a Mr Bechir at Rolex in Geneva who is authorised to speak to customers about things like movement identification has never heard of a 7¾H and doesn't recognise either the movement or the size! Which I suppose says a lot about the competence of Rolex employees?
The trouble is, my parts supplier did easily identify a 7¾H and found the proper staff for it.
But it doesn't fit!! Having a shaft that is too broad for the balance wheel. Does anyone know what is going on please? Is the 7¾H so unusual?
Maybe the movement was cobbled together from non-OEM parts and you need to replace the entire balance assembly. Maybe the movement isn't completely authentic. Maybe there are hundreds of things that could be the cause and nobody here will be able to help you.
Maybe.
Just Maybe.
Hey, that gives me an idea - let's ask @Maybe! I mean, with a screen name like his he's gotta be an expert on wild guesses and possibilities, right?
If you are desperate, the movement I showed in this thread (above) is available. However, NOT as a parts watch the staff is good, and it is innexcellent order. PM me.
