Convince Me it’s OK to Wear and Enjoy My Watch as a “Daily”

I'm an ER nurse and I try and wear my Planet Ocean 43.5mm to work daily. I've had it less than 2 months and I had to save up for over 2 years to finally be able to afford it, but I bought it to wear not to sit in a box on the shelf. I work with nurses who regularly wear their Tags and Rolexes for the same reason. I see where you are coming from, but you gotta own the watch, not let it own you. You have a fantastic watch - enjoy it!

My ocd wouldn’t let me deal with that.. But I do wear my omegas all the time.

I hear ya.

It ain't that bad in everyday light under non-10x zoomed conditions. And hopefully I get to dine out on the story once or twice, and the watch gets to be part of many more stories, hopefully whilst losing less steel.

But I get that tolerances for this sort of thing differ. That's why one person's daily wearer with all its scars and s offs is another's nightmare waiting to happen.

Going back to the first post - why do you ask the forum to convince you about wearing your own watch, I don't get it. Most of us are adults, you can make decisions on your own. Like the watch? Wear & enjoy it, as we do all daily. Afraid of damage? Put it on a shelf and let it collect dust if it makes you feel better. But for sanity's sake, you are the owner, decide for yourself, no need to ask for opinions of other, mostly anonymous people on the internet. The watch was made for space travel, yet some owners fear lawn mowing.

Actually for diving, but I agree with you. Sometimes I feel like wearing two of mine at a time.

True, I was too fast, thanks for the correction. I agree, sometimes is hard to decide 😀

I had planned to use my seamaster later this month to explore the depths of hollow earth in an attempt to convince a coworker that the earth is indeed not flat but no I am second guessing it 😃

Finally, a watch use-case that makes sense! 🤣

Well said, I remember when I picked up my new Hulk in 2012, I hardly took the watch off for the first 6 months.

Thats a great idea for dual time zones.

So the size of water molecules is variable? 🤔::facepalm1::
@Archer the physical state of these molecules will have an impact! When water is in a solid state (ice) the molecules are further apart. A non water resistent watch in a box of ice cubes will not cause water ingress although the size of the molecules is exactly the same. You can make the ice cubes as small as you want... no water molecules in the watch as long as the ice cubes are bigger than the gaps in the non water resistent watch. Change the state to a liquid or gas and problems occur.

How exactly is this relevant to a "steamy shower"?

Gas behaves different then water and different then ice. Molecules are the same...

Yes, the molecules are the same as I've already stated. No one is talking about the gaseous state of water, unless the "steamy shower" the previous poster referenced is literally boiling hot. If that's the case, the last thing you will need to be worried about is your watch - the 3rd degree burns will be of much more consequence.

The "steam" being referenced is simply water droplets suspended in air, in other words the liquid form of water. Again I'm not sure what you are trying to clarify here, because this is already very straightforward...

Who cares anyway? Wear it, don't wear it. I myself wear mine, service them when needed.

According to you, surface tension and viscosity of a liquid (again physical aspects) have zero impact on the potential of that liquid to penetrate a tiny hole?

Not in the shower, but I do wash them in cold water using a toothbrush every so often.
