Hi everyone,
I'm new here but have been doing some research. To help get my bearings, particularly on what price I should pay for a vintage Connie, I'm posting this ad which I am planning to haggle on.
https://www.chrono24.com.au/omega/constellation-chronometer-deluxe-gold-18k-pie-pan--id12597536.htm

Now, this seems to be in good condition, all componentry and font seems to add up to me, and it's fairly unpolished. Would I be correct in saying that this is worth closer to two-thirds of the asking price? I also note that this watch doesn't match the picture on the vintage database, but have seen other pictures of '14394s' with these hands and hour markers. Is that sort of discrepancy common?

Thanks all!

Is it my phone, or do the photos of the dial side seem like 3D renders? It is as if some filter has been applied to the photo. Maybe I am crazy.

I personally just think it's the clever lighting in which they took the photos, but that would be quite the scam if the seller got 3D renders made up for the dial haha

I don't think it is actually a render, but something seems fishy about the photos, and the price is way too high IMO.

The watch at almost €5800 is way too expensive for both the ref and condition IMHO. It looks to me like it has had a buff to remove some heavy wear, it still has visible dings in couple of the lugs and the bezel looks soft from the polishing wheel. The case back looks to have been polished a bit too, although hard to say much as the picture looks both over exposed and with heightened contrast. Ask for more pictures if you're interested as this one may be disguising some scratching. I'd say at €2.5K a reasonable buy, at €2.6-3.75K a maybe if you can negotiate, at €3.75-€4.5 a pass and anything above €4.5K is a run away as quick as possible.

Thanks Cristos! Your price points were exactly what I was looking for. Seems like I overvalued it by quite a lot! Would love to hear some other opinions too so I can dial in my radar.

I think you’re about right on the pricing. It’s rather sad tbh that these things are still valued less than a completely shagged out head only Rolex Day-Date when Speedmasters have shot through the roof given how good they are but that’s the money they’re trading hands at.
