I’m considering bidding on this at a local auction, only 3 photos and a short description. Solid 14k gold case but bracelet is not omega and is gold plate. Could be a bumper movement or later 501, I can give it a shake but won’t be allowed to open it.
Looks good and unpolished with original dial.
Not much else to go on.
What say ye?
Value?

The dial seems too white and the only photo of the dial is not straight on and has the hour hand covering much of the writing. The quality of the pictures is just not good enough to determine the originality of the dial.

No applied "Omega" points to a bumper reference, 2782 or 2652? Can't comment much on the dial with those pictures tbh... I'd also want to know if it's 14k or 18k before bidding.

Description says 14k gold case. I think the photo is over exposed making it appear very white. I have a Seamaster 2577 ( pic below) that I bought from the same auction house that appeared equally as white in photos (same camera and lighting, but is more cream coloured in person.

2652 is a screwback, the bezel looks thin, so it looks like it could be a 2648 to me.

Yeah, the 2652-suggestion was stupid, obviously. 😁

But Constellation and Waterproof on the case back of a 2648, is that a thing? Genuine question, my example and 2-or-so handful of others I've seen didn't have those two words.

Good question! The watch is likely Canadian market if that makes a difference.

I note chronometre is spelled correctly😀 so is a earlier version and there are round marker dots.

The "n"'s in Constellation are correct
The straight legged "M" in Chronometre, in contrast to the "M" in Automatic, is correct
Spacing correct
Minute markers are correct
Delicate crosshair

I say original.........from what is shown..........may be a quartz movt inside, who knows?

The place selling is reputable, they say they won’t open it because they lack equipment to close a snap on water resistant case. Most likely they don’t want to risk damage to a customer’s watch.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Unusual to have lumed hands but a no-lume dial.

Is it a no-lume dial? Might be my phone but I couldn't for the life of me determine that in the one blurry picture.

Well, if they don't open it, they can be as reputable as they want, they won't know either if the movement inside is correct. 😀 I find this a bit strange, to be honest - it's not exactly hard to reattach one of those snap on case backs. In fact, as "equipment", a 10$ press from Amazon would suffice. Even comes with two microfiber cloths to protect the watch. 😁

I would have no problem adding that watch to my collection.

Looks like plenty of radium on dial.

I think that Ref. 2782 has the Constellation engraving on the caseback and earlier versions do not have the gold Omega branding on the dial.

I guess that could be lume, I originally thought it was a beveled outer end of the marker, and I'm still unsure TBH. In any case, the OP should be able to check it easily in person.

The back is great, the observatory and the stars and the writing at the top and bottom are crisp, but the dial looks redone to me. The crosshairs don't seem to align with the star or the omega logo and they cut across the numbers which isn't right, I think they are supposed to stop before the numbers. It also looks too white. If the pic wasn't so blurry you could probably make out printing issues as well

The pics really aren’t great but the general rule is that as a dome dial it is correct that the cross hairs pass through the numerals / indices and should go to the edge of the dial.
