·P plopi recently picked this watch up as my entry to UG. I purchased the digital copy of Sala's book, while i could not find this reference number (12558) in the book, The telemeter scale section states; "the telemetre scale is usually red in color". All others I've found online are red as well and the only watch i found similar to this, are actual past listings for this exact watch. For reference it is from 1945 serial number starts with 118.
So my question is this dial original and how common/uncommon is this black telemetre scale?
Any help would be appreciated
did I just see this watch on grey and patina ?
it would require a deep dive to research this, I can’t recall offhand seeing one not red, but there’s nothing about the rest of the dial that looks wrong to me. It’s an odd photo and lighting though, everything looks kinda faded/washed out. Can you post some pics in natural light? Is the tachy scale bluish at all or is that also black?

The dial of your watch looks good to me.
I think black telemetric scale is fine, especially with later watches. Also its position on the dial could vary.
Here are two of my Compaxes, the first is a 1945 ref. 224105 with (quite worn) black telemetric scale positioned a little bit more outward.
The second is a 1943 ref. 22264 with a red scale.
The dial of your watch looks good to me.

··Color Commentator for the Hyperbole.@plop …If you are going to solicit our opinions. please give us more detailed pictures. We need to see the whole watch inside and out. From my limited perspective here, I see nothing on the dial that bugs me. UG allowed their dealers to do customizations so perhaps a customer wanted a blue scale. As the forum serves as a data base, lets document this beast.

given that the top strap fits pretty good and the lower strap has a gap, I would think the upper lugs are bent and either need to be straightened or two different sized straps would have to be used to get proper fit.
just a guess, but definitely see this, especially on gold cases.

·The concern from @Larry S maybe comes from the sharper print of the telemeter and compax logo, versus fuzzier print of the rest of the dial
