Serial should be in the 22.826.XXX range.
Actually it is 22081XXX

Well it is in range, movement looks clean and some 64 had the bezel turned blue.
Now, if the dial is not a relume, 10 or 11k seems pretty good actually (according to speedmaster101 price chart ).
You need a macro shot for the lume experts.

At this point do a F2F abd determine if you want the watch, then negotiate a price. But factor in a service unless there is a good document re a past service, plus a bracelet and an Extract. It all adds up.

Some more pictures sent by the seller.
The image quality is really not great again, but I'm still going with relumed.

Also, the handset looks almost remarkably pristine.

All the images were sent to me in the marketplace app, and they were compressed by the app, that's why they looks blurry.

Agree, normally I should expect the hands painting turn yellow or black, or having some paint loss.

Yes, I'd expect some variegation and some commensurate patina.

Hello friends,

I am the owner of this watch.... just to answer some points so everyone need not second guess. I had a lot of help and advises from fellow forumers here and I think it is only right to do my part.

I had the watch for about 4 years. Was bought off a first owner from NZ if I remember correctly.

I had the watch case and bezel cleaned at my watch maker. Vintage flat foot crystal original to watch was also buffed. Movement was also cleaned and oiled. He does not have parts for a full service though. No polishing was done.

Dial lume was moldy and was cleaned and touched up with original tritium. Overseas job and he did a fantastic job. Tritium hands were sourced by my watch maker.

As for serial number, it is 2208xxxx. Last 4 digits is interesting for this watch and makes a great birth year watch. I understand someone mentioned some posts above that it should be 228xxxxx. I am not sure and cannot confirm this.

Dial has turned slightly tropical and under our hot tropical sunlight, it is quite mesmerizing.

Hope these answers most of TS' questions. Could have asked me directly and all will be sorted out.

Thank you everyone for contributing to this thread. Some photos in appreciation.

Hi, it's a lovely watch, but the 'original dial lume' and handset lume looks completely colour matched as does the color of the 'original tritium' touch up; in my experience, it would be virtually impossible to match all three, together with trying to match the exact texture without it looking patchy or adding bulk, without redoing the dial lume and redoing the hand set to match at the same time. I'd be really interested to find out who did the lume work? Also please could you put some images up of the watch before the lume work was carried out?

Why are you now demanding photos? This would seem to be between the buyer and seller. If you are a potential buyer now, move the conversation to pm.

Demanding photos? What are you talking about?
Don't go throwing around unsubstantiated accusations, I haven't demanded anything at all!

I politely asked if they could put some images up of the watch before the lume work was carried out, there's nothing wrong with that whatsoever.

For perspicuity, this is because it would be very interesting to see, interesting for me and I suspect for some others.

If you're not interested, that's absolutely fine, don't look!

I know nothing about speedmasters but for what it’s worth I’ve seen online pictures of several military watch restorations and I’ve seen talented watchmakers do a remarkable job at matching dial lume with hand lume.
Since here Dial lume was moldy and was cleaned and touched up with original tritium. I for one am willing to believe the dial might have been made to match the hands.
The owner of the watch has not said the dial lume was entirely original.
