The MX5s are a good little car, no doubt
I have to agree.

After a divorce where I got the crap car with payments owing, I had a mid-life crisis and got this.

I'd owned British sporties in Malaysia (AH Sprite MkII, a clapped out TR) and a 1970'ish Nissan Sylvia, so wasn't expecting anything eye opening.
What a delight to the senses this little car was. While not a rubber burning powerhouse, the handling was exemplary, it was a true delight to drive and I had a smile on my face every time I climbed (or dropped) into it.

Often thought about getting another one, but they got too big and fat and lost the original concept.

Here’s mine. Love it! The hoods up photo is from an Audrain Museum event in Newport, RI. Yes, that’s Jay Leno making the rounds - my car was next to be judged!

Sadly, we never got the MGF over here, so I've not had the chance to ever mess with one.
Apparently there are a few second hand examples getting imported to the US now, as there was a time limit that has been expiring on a rolling basis, allowing them to come in as collectors cars.
The parts availability from the UK is pretty good and the technical support and knowledge base from the leading forum is excellent: https://www.the-t-bar.com

Here they mostly look like this...
Wow, I thought, this is the dress code for male US cruise ship travellers: white sneakers, white socks and white hair.
Here in Funchal/ Madeira, when an US cruise ship is in the port, the town is crowded by this species.
But over night, they are gone and the Germans with sandals crowd the streets.

But back to the topic:
This type of pickup I never saw elsewhere in Asia or Europe, is it typical Madeira only? All trucks here, Japanese or US, old or new, have this wooden back load.

Flat beds with stake sides are pretty popular here in the US.

Very common here in Australia usually with the tray and drop sides in alloy or some times steel, wood is less common these days
The 4 door ute body style is a best seller here

Man, I had kind of forgotten about the copper RR being there. It's such a stunning car.

Photos don't do it justice. That thing is frikin amazing. Worth a trip to Reno just to see it.

And the gold plated Deloren is just a bonus...

Last time I was in Reno was back in the 90s. That car, and a few others, really made the entire trip worth while. It may be time to head back there again.

A brief backstory on the National Automotive Museum. William Harrah, hotel and casino owner, had a collection of well over 1,000 vehicles. They were on display at his hotels as well as a local warehouse that was open to the public. When HIE bought the properties they had zero interest in the collection began selling off the cars. A group of investors/enthusiasts in Reno pooled their resources in an effort to keep the amazing collection together. They were able to purchase just over 200 cars which are now on display in Reno.

I went with my dad in the 90s, and he told me about how the collections used to be on display at Harrah's properties back in the 70s. Somewhere I have my book on the collection that I bought at the gift shop.

Back in 1968, these Ford Cortinas were ‘the business’ 😍

(Although I was tempted to insert this post in the ‘Who loves Certinas’ thread) 😁

Back in the mid 1970s.
Mate of mine accidently punted his into the back corner of a brand new Honda Accord (with rear wheel steering).
His car needed a new bumper (from the wreckers, $50).
The Honda needed about $3,000 in repairs.
