I've worked on many of those, but I have never seen a right hand drive model in the flesh. I think the head rest is up about as high as it will go, indicating the driver of this one is of average height.

A colour that would look great on a TR6 but terrible on an MG.

A Range Rover in its element. Traversing the steep inclines of a rollback flatbed lol.
Not even reliable enough for a Starbucks run!
😂

It’s been running great. Started just fine when I left the house but trying to leave Starbucks, it decided….nah. It sort of struggled to turn over but did, then couldn’t hold an idle. Tried a couple more times with the same result.
I think it’s a fuel issue. We’ll see…

It doesn't matter how good the reliability reputation of the car's manufacturer is, they are all equally susceptible to a filter blockage or a tank of filthy fuel!

Its all in jest. I had a good laugh while watching it get picked up. I'm well aware of their reputation, so just trying to make light of it lol.
I have run a full tank through it since I've taken ownership. In fact, just filled it up the day prior. Not that this really matters, just saying.
The truck did have the fuel pump and filter (along with relay) replaced a few years pack according to some paperwork I have on it.
I'm hoping its something easy like you said @Pastorbottle or something like spark or fuel. It is at the shop so I'm hoping to learn more here in the next day or so...

Get rid of it now before you spend all the money. Much better than getting rid of it a year from now after having spent all the money, and only being able to drive it 1,000 miles.

I just got it! It is a long term project. I've prepared myself. I look at it this way - its not like it would "depreciate" any more than a new car would.
I bought it for $12k. Say I put $20k into it. A few years down the road, I sell it for only $15k (which I honestly think would be unlikely judging by how much some of these sorted rovers go for), then I'm "out" $17k.
I think average depreciation on a brand new car after the first year is around 20%. Some around 50% after just 3-5 years.
The average cost of a new car in 2025 is around $48,000. So depending on the car you're looking at being "out" anywhere between $10k and $24k after a few years. I honestly don't think I'll be "out" upwards of $20k on this thing.
This is my rationalization - do NOT try to argue with me or tell me ANYTHNG otherwise haha. The plan is to keep it a long time. It is intended to be my wife's passion project.
The previous owner took a pretty good hit on it. They also got it on Bring A Trailer back in 2021 and paid $26,750 (before fees).
They put at least $10k into it from what I can tell, and then sold it to me for $12,250. Thats probably about as bad as it gets.
I did just put about $5k into it since I've had it - all in the motor. It was a leaky SOB.
It still needs some suspension refreshining as well as the power steering system. Both a little on the pricy side.

This might be as simple as the impact switch which shuts the fuel of on impact. Been a long time since I have played with these but it was not unheard of in the day.

If it all turns to shit and you run out of money you can always park it in your garden and use it to grow tomatoes.

😒

My mate had one back in the mid 1980s, we called it the Galloping Glasshouse.
