Been at our local Vintage swap meet Christchurch 2024 the past 2 days, and hopefully have tracked down another " Barn Find" to buy, rare and unusual amongst its peers, garaged since the late 70's but that's another story for and if I get to buy it.
Meanwhile here are a few that were on display and or for sale.

Quite a turn out of the old square riggers!

These 2 Austin 7's are of particular note with the green " Special " having a host of speed modifications that make it a real Barn Stormer.

However the red one which is an Australian bodied variant also has had a huge amount of engine and transmission and diff engineering that has transformed it into the quintessential " Sleeper" but more is in the works for this one with the owner in process of doubling its engine capacity by taking 2 Austin 7 blocks and re-engineering them into a V8! Work is well advanced with the block finished and engine design mockups completed, I am quite sure it will scare the pants off those lucky enough to get the chance of a ride or to drive it, hopefully I will get that opportunity!

It's apparently been a bit of a mission with one of the project participants sadly passing mid project but work continues so watch this space.

You don't have to be crazy to be an vintage Austin owner but it helps. The last pic is of a current mag publication with the owner of the red car as an enthusiastic co-pilot on one of the many crazy mud plugging events that many owners participate in.

Spotted today at Cars in the park in Lichfield,
CPRwatch, are you local to Lichfield? If so, you might have seen me out and about in one of these. We do go to Cars In The Park occasionally also (as well as the NEC Classic Car Show).

Some 70s extravaganza.. Not seen one in years..

Mmmmmm Lagonda. There was an old guy who lived on the same road as us when I was growing up who worked for them and had one of these. Probably very early 80's. It was gigantic at the time. I always thought it was ugly, but now i kinda fancy one.

It was ahead of its time.. But unsure where it would slot in and feel like it's the car of the time...

I remember seeing the prototype Lagonda at the Aston factory in Newport Pagnal - probably '78 or '79.
No proper seats - just one driver's seat on makeshift rails.
Registration number AML 1
IIRC they were one of if not the most expensive cars you could buy at the time.
TBH I was never a fan of the shape - they were just a bit awkward looking

It has grown into it's styling to a degree, but it still looks awkward around the front. The digital dash is a total nightmare by all accounts!

Don't think I've seen on in the metal so I have to rely on Harry Metcalfe's walk-around + road impressions.

Their name was appropriate with some minor letter changes, ie Lagonda = La Gondola they always reminded me of a boat or more appropriately a barge!
