They are here.........
The technology has been here for years, it’s the regulatory aspects of 3 dimensional transportation that are lacking.

Of course, The Jetsons never considered that.

Spotted in Castle Comble. Cotswolds UK
Here is a lap of the Targa Florio course in an Austin-Healey 3000 driven by Timo Makinen -- BMC works driver and winner of the Monte Carlo Rally the same year.

The car appears brown in the film but its real colour was medium red. All the Ferraris appear brown too 😜

The FAA dosn't appear to have a clue about how to handle these vehicles.

Fully automated flying taxis are just waiting for a green light.

Unfortunately that nasty little thing appears to have made it!
I think where it really belongs is at those gated communities where they have golf carts to get around and can legally drive while intoxicated due to it being on private property. That is where this could be a straight upgrade imo

You would need to be intoxicated to drive one!
Though I don't think I've ever drunk enough for that......and that's coming from a bloke that when he was younger would drink 2 bottles of whisky in a session and still be able walk and talk!

Doors are extra on the Fiat Topolino version

Clearly the bloke is insane....but what is the thing with the umbilical cord that he is attacking his head with?

IIRC it has a hairdryer as an accessory.

I was seriously considering getting my 96 yr old mother one of these to replace her current little car - but they don’t have power steering and only come in left hand drive.

Edit
One with doors!

Living in Los Angeles I am intimately familiar with the general populations inability to travel in two dimensions. Can't wait to see these folks try to handle three. 🤦

They will be fully automated, no chance for driver/pilot error. You enter a destination and the software does the rest. Far safer then self-driving cars. There is no chance to hit pedestrians or kids chasing balls.
