Hello,

Noob to the community here. Hope you all doing well.
Casual collector myself. Came across this example of a CK2990 that resulted in several days of research. Wanted to get an opinion on this particular example.

Looks like the seconds hands are not original.
Hands are relumed and a bit off.
Movement looks a bit rough.

Greetings and welcome to the vintage Omega world! Your best bet is hang on until members like Greg and others are awake as they have genuine Rancheros and can give you the heads-up on what you have there. In the meantime if you do a search on this forum for Ranchero you will turn up pictures of their examples to get yourself started. 馃憤

Movement has some parts that have been replaced. What is the serial number? Hard to tell from the pic.

Also, do you have a shot of inside the case back?

Minute hand is wrong.
Need a pic of inside of the case back to check the case number.

Minute hand and subsecond hand are both wrong. Dial looks relumed to me. Movement looks rough but the caliber and serial number are correct for a Ranchero. What鈥檚 the asking price? Photo below of my Ranchero for comparison.

@gbesq, seller ask is 2700 Euros. You confirmed the issues I spotted on the watch. In light of this, it's not being advertised as all original, how much do u think is a fair bid?

If the lack of originality doesn鈥檛 trouble you, I would offer 2000 Euros as the watch will need a movement service. Good original examples are going to cost at least 5000 and can be well over that figure. Ask for an extract from the Omega archives. The extract should identify the watch as a Ranchero and the serial number on the extract should match the serial number on the movement.

A bit on the fence on this one.
Is the extract make or break? How much does it cost and how long is the wait to obtain one from omega?

Fred!!!!????

Hey I'm the one suggesting Greg pitch in to guide the guy. Besides I've almost gotten my jealousy under control of Greg's watches. Almost. 馃榿

Proof that under that gruff exterior that Fred is just a soft touch. He might seem like a curmudgeon, but he鈥檚 our curmudgeon. 馃グ
