Very crisp watch 👍 Dial is in wonderful condition, bet that thing radiates like Chernobyl. City-Bravur was registered in 1941 in Stockholm, but City Bravur (without the hyphen) was registered 1953 in Biel. So a Swedish origin story with City?
Yeah that sounds about right, I dont know much about the brand more than that they are pretty common here in Sweden. So probably a Swedish brand with swiss made watches.

But they are uncommon in this condition and rather large case size 😀

I found my late father in laws well worn watch last summer. Instead of throwing it back in the drawer I got curious.
The AS 1123 1124 movement ran ok, so I bought a new strap and chrystal for it.
As it is a cheap watch I didn't want to spend much anything on it, about 7€ so far.

It also brought up the grainy kind of structure on the dial.

This one came fresh off the postman’s truck today. 30 mm dial, manual winding. Dial is champagne coloured but hard to capture on camera.

I happen to be wearing this one tonight. Paid $28 in 2020. Runs pretty good. Lug width is 16mm so I don’t have a lot of straps for it.

Mine is 16 mm too. The new strap it came with disintegrate bit by bit when I put it on and take it off. Need to find a new one. Alls I got are 20 mm straps.

Here is a watch I bought at the beginning of my watch collecting days, just because I loved the funky arabic numerals. I never wear it, but somehow I never could find the impetus to sell it either...

Finally got my Milljonär back from service. Runs like a champ now. New strap + service = yeah, about 10x the cost of the watch. Crazy. Welcome to the dark side of watch collecting where all logic has deteriorated and all that remains is a blurry lume shot of my precious cheapo:

I bought three watches for $150.00 from a friend last summer. Actually, I bought one for $150.00, and since he insisted the deal was all or nothing, you might say I got the silver one with the silver chain, for free. A Swiss private label, sterling case, English hallmarks for 1883-84, private label for Stewart Dawson, Liverpool. The sterling chain weighs 66 grams! There was a junker, and also this Porte & Markle (Winnipeg) private label which I paid $150.00 for. It has 23-jewels, Canadian gold filled case, circa 1910, movement by Gallet. This one also came with a chain which I checked out later. The chain was 48” long (not a misprint) curb link, weighed 16+ grams, and was 10 karat gold. Scrap value about $450.00 (Cdn.). I phoned him and told him about the chain, and that he should really have it back! I think he was surprised that I phoned him!

I'm not sure all three of these qualify, but I have high hopes for the first two...

Leopard was a brand of Finnish watch importer Sylvester Korhonen Oy. The company imported Zenith and Certina among others. Leopard disappeared with the parent company sometime in the 70s. Extremely common watches in Finland. Leopard, Leijona (Lion) and Tiger form the holy trinity of Finnish cheapo vintage beauties.

When I bought the watch I made the mistake of not asking the seller about the diameter. I got cocky! Turns out the watch is 30mm. Way too small for me, but luckily perfect size for my wife. She just loves the military aesthetics of this Leopard.

That's really nice. And I've made that same mistake--still have the Selca with the lovely root beer dial in a 30mm case to show for it...

Interestingly (or not), my first watch ever was also a Pontiac, bought to me by my parents when I was 6 or so. And I still have it. It's powered by a mechanical France Ebauches calibre FE-140.

What an amazing dial! And that's interesting, the FE movement. Mine's an ETA 2783. Younger than yours, I'm guessing.

Funny how, as a kid, I never realized how cool a watch I had. And it is also probably responsible for my strong liking for arabic numerals. After a couple of years, I switched to a Texas Instruments LED watch, one on which you had to press a button to have the time light up in red, which was perceived as the bleeding edge at the time. I'm just happy I never got rid of my little Pontiac, who now has a well deserved spot in my watch box...

To be fair, lighting up in red was also pretty cool.

Definitely a cool watch for a kid. My first watch was a cheap Swatch quartz watch with a bracelet. It had a blue dial. I was maybe 13. I thought it was the coolest thing. Unfortunately the watch irritated my wrist, probably because of nickel allergy. It was very painful, I couldn't wear it any more... so naturally I started to wear it on my right arm instead. Problem solved! 🤦 Soon both of my wrists were covered in blood red blisters; it looked like I had stigmata.
