Good day everyone!

Just found this Bulova 23 jewels XW a couple of days ago and fall in love with it. I an currently looking for a leather strap that suits it well.

On the photo below, one can see the case profile design of the 1959 Bulova 23 XM being a predecessor to the iconic Bulova Astronaut of the late 60's.

Definitely a cool watch for a kid. My first watch was a cheap Swatch quartz watch with a bracelet. It had a blue dial. I was maybe 13. I thought it was the coolest thing. Unfortunately the watch irritated my wrist, probably because of nickel allergy. It was very painful, I couldn't wear it any more... so naturally I started to wear it on my right arm instead. Problem solved! 🤦 Soon both of my wrists were covered in blood red blisters; it looked like I had stigmata.
Ouch! I didn't wear watches as a kid, but I had a ring that turned my finger a yellowish green. Which did not stop me from wearing it.

That Pontiac initially gave me a skin irritation, but it turned out to be the band, one of these Twist-O-Flex contraptions that also had a habit of pinching my wrist. So my parents had it replaced by the stainless steel one visible on my pictures.

Can you tell it was the 1970s? 😉

Hafis. Steel, Polerouter homage, black dial, gilt lettering, cross-hairs...

Love a good Polerouter homage. For some reason these old cheapo homages don't bother me one bit. Modern microbrands on the other hand...

Finally got my Milljonär back from service. Runs like a champ now. New strap + service = yeah, about 10x the cost of the watch. Crazy. Welcome to the dark side of watch collecting where all logic has deteriorated and all that remains is a blurry lume shot of my precious cheapo:

It does make sense 😀

I've just spent 10 of my hard earnt pounds on this unashamedly retro little number. I know nothing about the brand, although I'm guessing it's probably German/Polish if the brand is named after the geographic region. It's in a jiffy bag winging its way to me as we speak.. I'll post more pics when it arrives 👍. I feel like this thread has given it a home 😀

I'd like to say it's even better in person but in reality it just feels cheap like a 70's piece should 😀
That said it keeps time and looks the part 👍
What more do you want for a tenner 😁

Damn that black dial Omikron is lovely! I need one 😁

Ask and you shall receive. Yesterday my wife gave me a gift...

What can be said about Omikron? Not much, I'm afraid. The company was registered in 1955. That's about it. Popular watches in Eastern Europe during the Cold War days, probably because of low prices and reliability thanks to Unitas 6376. Wife found this beauty from a seller in Serbia. Lovely tritium arabics dial, plated case, lightweight and overall just feels cheap. Cool elephant on the caseback though.
