Good seats!

A million apologies if it's bad form to create a special thread for a specific watch for sale but I've no dog in the fight, skin in the game, ouch, my ears with these awful cliches. This is a matter of utmost importance.

I come in peace and I mean you no harm.

So,,,,,,if a person could buy this watch for say...$3200, you could then sell the bracelet for ~$1700 and the bezel for around $150.

Take $300 from your part-out and purchase a near mint bezel (the bezel insert for this watch looks pretty mint but it could be a knock-off, keep this in mind) and a new Horween leather side-stitched strap like the one below.

The bezels on these watches can be swapped out fairly easily with some concentration and a little patience but it's definitely a DYI job.

by my calculation, you have a pretty bad a$$ looking Rolex for under $1700. $1700!!!!!!! I might do it myself?

i see a lot of guys chasing Datejusts for 2g's. 3g's for black dials. crazygonuts!!!!

I don't know anything about Omega but I know almost everything about Rolex. If I were looking for my first used Rolex, I'd look no further. Always buy used, no exceptions!

This would not be a compromise; it would be a really nice watch which you could wear everyday with pride.

please keep the barking to a minimum 馃榾

While I agree it's possible, I wouldn't do it. Chopping up and parting out a Rolex really makes me sad. It'll never be whole again, at least not with its original parts.

I'd rather save just a bit longer and get something that hasn't been hacked up.

Granted, I live and work in Kabul at the moment so something like your suggesting does have appeal to me - anything happens and you're not SOL.

Totally personal preference. Do what brings most happiness.

When I worked at my old Job a high end Retail jeweler, they would trade watches in, mostly Rolex. Although I handle the IT for the company I got involved in every aspect I could. What I noticed was the people who got the most money had the un altered watches, boxes papers etc. The ones who got the lowest (and they would check that it was real) were the ones that were modified, non Rolex band etc.

Let's admit, certain watches like Rolex are like exotic sports cars to a certain extent. When it comes to selling them, the more paperwork and originality the better.
