I don’t know from a vacation I know from friends who lost family to the Castro regime but go ahead and enjoy you margarita on the beach. I have no problems with the people of Cuba, god bless them I hope they do well. Ok go ahead I know you can’t let this stuff go.

I’ve not been there “on vacation” so there were no resorts, beaches, or margaritas involved. The places I’ve stayed in Havana are the same places that Cubans stay when they visit the city, which means that the toilet had no seat, and other than a sketchy looking shower head with an electrical cable attached to it (that if you were brave enough to throw the switch and just dribble the water through...it would just barely warm the water) there was no hot water.

The Cubans I’ve interacted with include regular working folk, right up to university professors, and not one of them was serving me drinks.

But go ahead keep assuming whatever suits the narrative you like...I know you can’t let this stuff go...

Taking a personal possession as a trophy from a person you just had killed...not sure how you can describe it any other way but stealing.

Guevara himself could answer your question well. He signed and presided over 1892 executions without proper trial at La Cabaña castle in Havana between January and March 1959. All were stripped of any possession prior to their murder, including their blood in many cases (hospitals were in shortage).

Have you ever been to Cuba? If not you should go. The people there are very nice, and make the best of what they have. It's a lesson in perseverance that many comfortable people in this world could learn from...

Yep. People were making the best of what they were left with and giving lessons in perseverance at Warsaw ghetto too. Pitty there were no tours back then.

Getting back to subject of the thread (watches) for a second. See a couple of photos that I found

Fidel in 1959 (photo taken by Korda)

I think people might be disappointed with Castro's watch. From that photo alone, I suspect that it had a service bezel insert and a newer bracelet, and I wouldn't be surprised if the dial and hands were also replaced regularly at service.

Great photo thanks. I have seen the photo before but not sure what year. Early 60s I would think. Watch is not very clear.

I think it amazing that this war hero to millions of people who has shown real bravery fighting for his country, and is then killed on the orders of a draft dodger, in the most cowardly way possible is seen as in anyway acceptable?
Are we talking about Che or Bahgdadi? 😉

Stealing and murder is not right no matter who does it.

Like I said previously, no one in this scenario is my hero...

Yes, certainly me pointing out that Cubans do the best they can, and find happiness despite the conditions they are in, that clearly to you means I support mass slaughter no matter where or when it happens. 🙄

Seriously, give your fυcking head a shake...after you pull it out of your ass.

It is Qasem Soleimani, and to give an idea of how respected he was at home, this is the turn out for his funeral

What you wrote is crystal clear: you're happy to go and encourage other to go and see the merry natives 'being nice and finding happiness" (LoL).

Let's put the context in place, shall we? Here's what I was responding to:

I have some friends who escaped Cuba in a raft after hearing their stories I just see not much joy in Castro’s watch

Have you ever been to Cuba? If not you should go. The people there are very nice, and make the best of what they have. It's a lesson in perseverance that many comfortable people in this world could learn from...

To be clear, I have never expressed one word of support for Che, Castro, or the current Cuban regime in this thread - I do not support them, rather the Cuban people. Which is why when I did go there I brought all kinds of supplies and equipment to give away to people there. But I'm sure you typing on the internet, I'm guessing never having been there, you are doing sooo much more good...congrats!
