I got a call from my watch agent today and he excitedly informed me of a very rare watch being offered for sale. It was a vintage Tornek Rayville TR900. I could not believe what I was hearing and I informed him that it could be a MarkII re-issue. He said it was the real deal and sent me a picture of the watch to my email. When I saw the picture I jumped the gun immediately and instructed him to start negotiation. After several phone calls we closed the deal despite a spirited effort from another buyer. I finally got the watch an hour ago and it is beautiful. Happy to share the watch here.

very, very cool.... but how much time do you want to spend with a watch with a giant radioactive crest on the back.

better send it away for proper disposal, I happen to run "Fritz's Radioactive Watch Storage Facility & Dancing Ferret Emporium", I'll send you my address.......

What are friends for eh?

Okay.... so its obviously a US military watch and judging by what looks like a giant dampness indicator on the dial it might even be for marine use (really? No kidding?)..... but what makes it so special? Please educate this plebian good sir!

James Dowling wrote a nice article about the Tornek's history and you will find it on the link below:

Thanks michaelmc. Is it true that only about 20 are in existence as estimated by James Dowling?

I'd not presume to know how many were made, let alone how many still exist in their original state. I do know they are rare & I've only had a couple in my hands my entire life. www.watchprosite.com members show a few from time to time and the military forum as well. Treasure it as it is a rare beauty. M
