Presto鈥檚 living the life I want next time around.
Reminds me of that joke about a man seeing an attractive woman on the bus with a male cat on her lap. And he says he's envious of the cat. And she's like: "I don't think you want to be in his place, I am taking him to the vet to get him neutured." 馃ぃ

That鈥檚 an awesome house for a cat to enjoy climbing in, did he ever drop down on your head or anything as you went past?

There are a lot of exposed beams throughout the place - upstairs and down, and a large inglenook which he used to try climbing pretty frequently. He only came off there in his sleep twice in 13 years. The first time was a full fall to floor level and certainly made quite a noise... he was absolutely fine though and just jumped straight back up again. The second time was much more noisy. Wife and I were in the adjacent room watching the telly and all of a sudden there was a big cat squeal and lots of general kerfuffle from the kitchen. I went in to find him hanging by his front claws from said beam desperately trying to pull himself back up. I had to reach up whilst standing on a chair and tempt him to let go.

People who don鈥檛 like cats have never had the pleasure of being in the presence of a Maine Coon.
Even a broken Maine Coon is better than 99% of the humans on the planet.

Cats with their stealth and climbing abilities are much more efficient at hunting small animals and birds, dogs are a bit more clumsy at hunting solo and have really evolved to be at their most efficient at hunting and running down larger animals in packs.
Of course this is a bit of a generalisation and there are of course exceptions.
Many a Shetland sheepdog and various small terriers are brilliant mouse and rat catchers, the shelties I had Shep and Monty both had amazing patience and would wait days laying perfectly still waiting to ambush and pounce on a mouse.
I had a kelpie/border collie X, Jessie was an excellent instinctive snake catcher, she just knew how to handle them, I was always worried that she'd get bitten but she never did, and lived a long life, the strange thing is that she never showed any interest in hurting other animals she just hated snakes. She would play at chasing the swallows around the dam for hours on end, but that was just a game to her, she never got close to catching one, however she would steal eggs from the chooks! but never chased them.
She used to herd the cattle but after a few kicks she gave them a fairly wide berth and only helped working them at a distance she left the serious cattle working duties to the bigger dogs.
I had a fenced yard in miami with a number of coconut trees. It amazed me to watch my 3, a Siberian, German shepherd, and Akita, form a pack almost instantly to confuse, and eventually land a possum from a tree. They would alternately approach the tree from different angles, with the other 2 on there permitter waiting, and scratch at or growl at the trunk, then retreat. A moment later another would approach from the opposite side, causing the possum to have to turn quickly. After 10 minutes, the possum would grow tired and fall out of the tree. It would play dead, and they would leave it alone after a few licks. I only noticed the behavior one morning making coffee after letting them out very early.

I am a dog person by far, but I had a family cat a long time ago who was a rescue who had to be hand reared as a kitten as the mum had abandoned them due to nearby guard dogs. That cat was the most loving and trusting cat ever, and used to have a party trick where I could put my arms out in front of me and he would just stretch right out on his back and fall asleep across them, fully splayed. I've been a bit more pro cat ever since.

Many cats are dickheads though.

My dog is jealous of my cat.
My cat doesn't give a shit about the dog.

(Note, the cat is an indoor cat and scared of being outdoors. He's curious enough to go out on the porch but runs inside at any noise.)

No lie. I like my avatar. Not going to change it. It fits. I wear a vest/tie to work and hate people. So...very much like a cat. 馃榾
