I have a seamaster with a scratch on the watch case
It doesn’t bother me but would I be better having it
Professional refinished from a resale point of view
Or leave it alone as part of the watches originality

I guess it would depend on what seamaster it is- if vintage I vote for untouched, if modern, I guess it depends how much it bothers you.

How bad of a scratch is it?

Don't sweat the small stuff. Does it hurt the value? Yes. Slightly. Would it concern the most CDO of watch collectors? Yes.

On the other hand, it shows the watch has a history. The caseback is all original as it is and any refinishing would alter that. The majority of buyers and collectors aren't going to be too concerned with honest wear and tear, particularly if it doesn't show.

I’d say leave it alone. It’s on the back so not normally visible. I’ve definitely seen worse marks due to careless watchmakers (or curious owners) opening the case. Polishing it out would remove more metal than it’s worth.

It really only shows up like this in direct sunlight and on the case back so not normally visible either in its case or on the wrist
I will keep watching the thread but so far I think it’s well left alone
Not considering parting with piece certainly not in the medium term
If I do could be something ro discuss then
