Can you relume hands?

Hello All,

As I go further down the path of enlightenment in all things vintage Omega, I'd like to ask if it's possible to have current hands and dials reluminized, if that is a word? I just acquired another Seamaster and would like to investigate this option. It'll make it easier to know what time it is when I'm in the dark. As every married guy knows, we're always in the dark. Thanks in advance.

Yes, but it could hurt the value of your watch. Typically for vintage pieces you want to leave Lume untouched unless it is damaged/lost from dial.

Yes it is possible to relume hands and the dial plots. The challenge is finding the right individual to do the task. I don't know where you are located, but, do a search for relume and perhaps you will find a referral, if not, I am sure that there are individuals on the Forum who can give you a recommendation. I have heard of skilled artists in England and in Italy.

Everest Watch Works in USA. But if you do the hands only, most watchmakers can handle that.

Be aware those thin stripes in a lot of watches don't hold enough lume to really make a difference, and they never did.

I would say that the challenge is to get them relumed with tritium (near impossible). All of the reluming will be with luminova

You can still find the little Bergeron tritium bottles for sale. If you find them, buy a few. They are nearly gone. We have 10 water based tritium bottles left. Kind regards. Achim
