Tell your friend to take to a watchmaker, have the back removed and take photos of all the numbers inside the case back and on the movement. Once that has been done, come back and post the photos.

Others probably have a better take on it. My first impression it is a Silmaster from the way the hands cross the logo.

Not seen to many with the modern quartz style chapter ring. The watch looks like it is from the 1980s.

Looks like it might be a 166.089 based on a Google search, but they'll know for sure when the watchmaker opens it.

The watch is authentic.. to find the exact reference number, serial number and caliber you will have to open and check it.
