I have answered an awful lot of queries recently about an awful lot of awful 2998's.
One of the main things I keep saying is
look at the watch. Does it look nice, does it talk to you?
For the most part these watches have really shagged dials, poor hands and terrible bezels. No matter what is done to them, they are shagged. One has to throw a lot of money at a shagged watch, and at the end of the day it will still be shagged out.
We can lose sight of what a nice watch can look like. So here. A 2998-61 acquired in 2015 from the first owner.
Its all about the dial, then the case then the bezel then the hands. (For me). The movement, as long as its the correct number we can fix
This is not exceptional, but it is very attractive. My advice to those seeking a 2998, is be patient, dont loose heart and above all, buy a watch you think looks nice. I does not have to be top, but find something that is happy. Not shagged.
