Ca 1965 Seamaster de Ville - Plated or Solid?

Hey Folks, so here is a little Sunday quiz .. I purchased this de Ville today at an auction and am wondering what I actually bought.
The auction text did not say anything about the case material. Now the fact that the case back has the same color as the front indicates to me that it is solid gold. I could find examples of later models with a gold plated back but not this one. Now what is a bit weird is that the solid gold models usually say WATERPROOF around the lower part of the seahorse, whereas the steel ones have an engraving outside of the relief. I did find one solid gold example though that looked exactly like this one.
As a disclaimer, I can’t lose here as the price was ok even for a plated one and I love the Arabic numbers, so even if it’s a gold/steel model it’s all good 😀
Thx

Interesting .. I did not spot that engraving before. Now I found this solid gold example and it seems to have the same.

If it says “14k gold”, it is solid 14k gold. If it says “14k gold filled”, it is 14k gold filled. Does that make sense?

I also think that is gold filled. The text is not very visible but comparing the text alignment it think I spot the full text ( 14 Gold Filled).

Thank you very much! That’s the info I was looking for as they look different on European models.

I agree, the text alignment looks like that and also it seems to end on a „D“.

Hmmm ... could you clarify further. 😉
