What’s funky on these 2?
Price is way too high for a purchase to make sense. The first few people that "have to have it" will pay a premium, but I don't understand how a market can support this!
I'm surprised at the comments
Correct!
The new EdWhite does not have any. More/less funky?
I'm not.
Re-releasing something that came before, with a few tweaks, for a lot of money, is not ground breaking - its a pure cash grab, as Omega attempt to gain back some of the cash that the auction houses/private sellers/dealers see through epically over inflated vintage sales.
Countdown to someone claiming this watch is "good value"... 3...2...1...
i realize omega has to make money and owes nothing to the vintage community. . but personally i'm turned off by these historical re-issues. same thing over at zenith with the a386.
at these price points. . why not buy an actual ed white ? if you devalue the vintage watches will the modern ones still be as sought after? am i the only person that didn't really have much of an interest in a 2914-1 railmaster or a 2915-1 speedmaster after the re-issues came out ? (i did in fact sell my 2914-1 after the re-issue but it wasn't the only factor at play)
very big divergence between say patek and rolex strategy vs omega. its not the only difference but modern watches that take inspiration from historical watches is different than copying older watches.
i prefer the former approach
now the question is should i sell my ed white. . .
at these price points. . why not buy an actual ed white ?
