Very nicely done homage to the original, but all things being equal I'd rather have the original. Can't replace the character and charm of over 50 years of existence.

Have to disagree, it is new all the way for me, I will add my own dings dents and scratches to create my own memories, my own vintage watch, rather than inherit someone else's memories.

I agree with what you say about your own memories, dings and dents, but what I was referring to is that contemporary watches will not age in the same manner that watches from the 1960s have as the materials used are far more stable; for example, I'm quite sure that the markers use luminova and not tritium, the luminova will not patina as tritium, but , rather its color will remain fairly constant over the years, the bezel insert is ceramic and it too will not age in the same manner as the vintage inserts which could turn gray, blue or even ghost out, and the material on the dial will not fade, turn to brown or whatever other changes that occurred over time with vintage watches. That is the character or Wabi Sabi I was talking about, but, I completely understand your comment, I just want you to understand my comment.

Yes, I understand exactly what you say, watches from yesteryear change and develop character over time whereas a modern watch can/could be consider fairly sterile as it is unlikely to change.

But, 50 years ago when you wandered into the jewellers and picked up your Rolega did you have any idea how that watch was going to change over the years ahead? No.

Today we are in the same position, we don't know how our watches will age there are a good few years to go to see what exactly will happen. However, I think that you are right our model watches will stay more stable than their older cousins and less prone of ageing and that begs a question which comes down to personal taste, nostalgia or modern. Me, well I like modern.

The fifth one delivered!!! Congratulations, Adri. Envious. Enjoy! Oh, do you post on IG?
And 3 are on OF! This watch really is for the watch nerds since no normal person would spend that amount of money on a Speedmaster that looks like any other Speedmaster.

So why do people spend silly amounts of money on 55+ year old Speedmaster that looks exactly the same as the new one that I saw in the dealers window today.

If liking, wanting and ordering this new version of the Speedmaster makes me an abnormal watch nerd, then thats fine, I'm guilty as charged.

Because we’re all watch nerds. If not then we wouldn’t be on here.

And there's nothing wrong with liking both. To each his/her own. Yes, I like both!

Because it doesn't.
But, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. "Suum cuique"... to each his own. Underneath it all, yes, Texasmade, we are all watch nerds.

Unfortunately, it is both different from the original and not that different.

Funny how this has come down to an “Omega vs Rolex” thing. They’re both great - new and old - buy them both. Let the kids take out loans...

So many pics of the dial but what about the caseback - surely that's one big reason why us watch nerds will buy this 321 powered speedy?

I've been thinking the same! That is sort of the big selling point for me with this model.
