Having been looking at R-J’s Instagram feed I’m coming round to this. Now on the list. God knows how long it will take however.

Hopefully long enough to save up....

I still feel like the 60th speedmaster is a steal. Design wise it's much more unique and you can buy a vintage 321 for a lower price.
I own a 60th and I love it, i think the 321 will be even better with 321 and quality better. Bracelet much thinner and confortable...

Let’s see

I also have a 60th Anniversary Speedy and think it is a great watch. However, I really like the legibility of the new Ed White hands and black ceramic bezel insert and sometimes wish the 60th had them. But if it did then it would no longer be true to the CK2915, the first Speedmaster, so I am very glad I own a 60th Anniversary Speedmaster.

I like the vintage aesthetics of the original 105.003, but I don’t like owning an old watch so a vintage 321 is out for me.

Yo. Okay, so I know that at least two EW Cal. 321's have been delivered (other than RJ's), one in Switzerland and one in London. Note, both of these SS Cal. 321 owners have the Platinum 321 version as well so they obviously received VIP status. Have any others been delivered to their lucky owners?

Omega is really taking a page out of Rolex's playbook and holding back supply! Only 3 known deliveries so far this summer.

My Omega Boutique has told me that they won't get a watch until January 2021, they also confirmed that supply will be very slow due to the low number being produced. I am however confirmed as being on the list. When I look at the number of watches being produced it isn't surprising to hear that only 3 watches have made it to their new owners, but then not all new owners will be OF members.

I spoke to my AD today, they also confirmed that they were expecting 321’s in early 2021 but were unsure how many they would get and a lot of things were being held back.

Sounds as though those lucky enough to be at or very close to the top of the dealers waiting list will get their watches in 2021, those not at the top, 2022 or 2023 or ........................... 2030 or 2031

I think it’s all well and good, but there is a balance between lowering supply to ridiculous levels and keeping people interested.

they obviously have interest and could sell a number of thousand right now (including one to me more than likely)

the fact they are rare and will keep their value in the grey market (possibly) wouldn’t make any difference to swatch. I’m fairly sure that if I have to wait a number of years something else may have taken my fancy by then unfortunately - and I’m probably not alone.

In fact this publicised rarity had probably filled the list up with potential flippers with no real interest in the watch. I hope that’s not a sign of things to come.

I cannot comment on whether Omega are keeping supplies deliberately low or whether the watch is as difficult to produce as they claim, I'll be the optimist rather than the cynic and say its because the 321 is difficult/time consuming to build. I guess that there is a lot of interest in the watch but other than watch enthusiasts who understand the history of the 321 not sure who else would be interested.

Flippers, don't get me started on these people, get on lists buy stock they don't want and then sell it for a profit, so some poor bugger who is patiently waiting for their grail watch has longer to wait or has to pay a premium, yes I know that this is modern economics and there is sod all that can be done about it but it just leaves a bad taste. I couldn't get on the list for the A11 50th, I was too late, so to see watches advertised on grey market sites within days of the first watches being released for vastly inflated prices was galling to say the least.

As for the lengthy wait, yes you are absolutely right, by the time your name gets to the top of the list you may not want the watch, that must be fate of many a potential SS Daytona owner, who by the time the call comes has forgotten that they once wanted the watch.

Your last point is absolutely correct - however Rolex moves at such a slow pace it’s still in demand. By the time omega get round to delivering these they may well have announced something else that will get everyone going and move interest.

If I waited 5 yrs for a Daytona it would still likely be the current and hot watch and I’d doubtless be delighted.

omega will have released another (at least 1) hottie by then which may have taken my attention.

I guess my point is they are totally different firms and markets. Omega would do well to fulfil the orders here and strike while the iron is hot. IMO obvs....👍

Rolex do move slowly and the likelihood is that a lot of Daytona's ordered a few years back and delivered in a few years time will still be welcome. But as you allude to peoples taste change in time and what was once your grail may well have been superseded by something else.

I am keen to get a 321, I will only buy from my OB and not via a third party, but if there is no sign of the watch coming through my enthusiasm for the watch will wain and something, new sparkly and readily available will take its place, this is why I have no interest in a Daytona I simply couldn't wait that long for a watch, there are plenty of alternatives out there all perfectly capable of telling the time.

And yes, Omega need to remember this, if the watches come through far too slowly, at least for those with a vested interested in getting one then it will be shouted from the forum roof tops, irrespective of whether it is true or not, after all not every watch will go to a OF member.

However, Omega have been clever, they have stated from the outset that the 321 will only be made in small numbers, supply is not limited but restricted by the process of making each watch, so essentially the marketing intimates that you are getting a watch built by hand and as I won't get to see inside the factory this is something that I'll have to take at face value.

I am going to keep my options open, I like Speedmasters and to have a little 1861, 3861 and 321 collection would be very very nice, I don't have to have a Snoopy 50th or a 321 in the next 12 months so we will see what the future brings.

They already claimed several times they will produce around 2k pcs of the 321 movement a year to be split between steel and platinum version. Before covid, it could be enough to create long waiting lists (as Omega desired for this model) but right now, I don’t believe they have around 2k people willing to buy it in the heartbeat, therefore I wouldn’t be surprised they limited the number this year even further to reflect how hard it will be to get one.
Of course only speculating, but that’s my best guess.

I always thought 2k pieces a year was quite a bit. My guess is they'll probably produce substantially less and more like less than 1000 SS and less than 100 platinum a year due to the high prices and wanting to maintain some scarcity for the watch.

2,000 pcs a year is a drop in the bucket depending on the price. They'd sell out in an afternoon at $7k, at $13k not so quick. But they would have no real problems moving 2,000 pieces at $13k over a few months.
