I've just cancelled my order.

The good with such a long wait is that you have plenty of time to see other interesting things and change plans. That's what I just did. Realized I don't need another Ed White - moreover modern - the good old 105.003-65 will do the job...

...till I get bored even with that one. 🥱
You won’t be bored with a grail like that

I Icnbne
I have a theory

Omega has no where near the interest or deposits as they anticipated and are restricting supply

reason: i put down a deposit in june and was 3rd on the list at my local boutique. After half a year of announcement, 3 isnt a long list

I think that there is plenty of interest, around 1200-1500 watches per year across the world means that watches will be thinly spread. I see the Omega Boutiques being the place to get one as Omega would prefer to supply via OB's than AD's and with so few watches being available will there be enough to filter down to AD's?

No request as yet from my OB to pay a deposit but in the UK you are not asked to pay a deposit when you order a watch, you would only pay to secure the watch once it is available.

The other issue is price, at over £12,000 in the UK the watch is not cheap so its appeal is limited to those that are really interested in what the 321/Ed White connotation stands for.

Purists may balk at the price, 'you could buy a proper one for that money' is a good argument but for me if I am spending this type of money I want to add those dings, dents and scratches myself not inherit someone else's.

Nice vintage pair of watches, but overall prefer the new watch.

Is that bad? 😗

I prefer the new EW 321 over the vintage. Same argument you have.

No shame in that, I prefer new as well.

That's my conclusion as well, although I didn't put a deposit for the new EW in the first place.

Mine says hi

For the price and aesthetics, I'm looking elsewhere.

Before I get flamed (which I still expect!), understand that I'm a Rolex guy who just picked up the Apollo 11 50th. At 14k or whatever MSRP is, this to me is overpriced for what I'm getting looks-wise. Takeaway the fact that this is supposedly handmade by 1 person that knows what they're doing; it just looks like any other Speedmaster to the untrained eye (I get the non-lyre lugs, etc. - but does the common person?).

It'd be like if Rolex came out with a 5513 re-issue with vintage-looking indices and a shiny bracelet for 20k - I would laugh it out of the park. For the money, I'd either get the real deal vintage one or spend it on a truly modern looking piece, a la what I just bought in the 50th or a Tokyo panda.

I'm obviously biased and I know I'm going to get smacked around here, but I wanted to give my 2 cents as a non-Speedy enthusiastic that just happens to like very specific Omegas outside of my normal Rolex fanboy-ship.

The admissibility of this argument depends on why you are buying a watch. Because you like it or to show to others it costed a lot?

Now, do your eyes appreciate those changes enough to pay that much more? that is another question and a matter of personal choice... For me, it is pretty close to what we can see with vintage vs modern. Why buy a pre-moon Speedy when you can buy a brand new one for less than half the price? Apart from a few details, they are the same watch. The only difference is that one is used.... eerrrh... one developed patina 😀 Most will buy new, some will buy vintage (sometimes several ones).

Regarding Rolex, a fairer comparison for the crown-logo brand would be a Cosmograph reissue using a V72 for 40k MSRP. I guess your reaction would be the same though 😁

The watch isn't for everyone. I like the watch but I don't have $14k to drop on it. If I had the money and was going to only have one Speedmaster, this would be the one I would get.

You obviously don’t understand or “get” this watch. It was not designed for the “common person”. In fact this Speedmaster has a niche market. It was designed for the Omega fans who appreciate the 321 movement and the straight lug, no crown guard case of the 105.003 this new “Ed White” was modeled after. It is exactly these subtle aesthetics that this target audience is drawn to and that you dismiss as the same old Speedmaster

I believe you are not in the target market, and that is ok.

Like others have mentioned, this watch is a niche product. People who are into Speedmasters will care about it. Most others won't care about it or even notice it. I can't wait to get mine. I would buy this any day over a Rolex Daytona (at retail). I do not like to be noticed. So this works perfectly for me.

Same opinion I prefer 100 times more this new 321 than a simple Daytona that is just a hype due to many flippers. I don't think the rolex RD service has lots of works or some revolution in mind. Oh yes, let's swap the sub with a jubilee bracelet people will get crazy for that...

I still feel like the 60th speedmaster is a steal. Design wise it's much more unique and you can buy a vintage 321 for a lower price.
