Anyone, anywhere, hear any news or gossip around delivery?

My (U.S. based) AD sent me a text this week saying they are one of the top 5 in the states in terms of volume and so should receive a respectable allocation, but that they still had no clue what/when allocation could be.

There are subtle differences in all the straight lug cases and several manufacturers. Your assumption that the cases from 2915, 2998 through 105.003 are identical is most certainly not correct. Did you search on funky lug bevels like I suggested? That would have given you some insight into the differences between 105.003-64, 105.003-65 and FOIS. Incidentally the new case seems to have a ridge between the lugs which engages with a lip on the new bracelet, that is not present on any previous straight lug. This will likely mean the bracelet can not be fitted easily to older watches, much to the disappointment of many here.

Interesting. There is a local AD that claims they sell more volume than the OBoutique, and that they get more allocations of LE watches, and quicker delivery time than the OBoutique. A huge grain of salt on that one, but may be true. Have not heard of any additional updated delivery times earlier than summer 2020.

Any updates on the delivery dates of this watch?

I believe it's reasonable not to expect any updates by February while the delivery expected to start in May/June 😀 at least, on my end, there are no newer news 😉

This has probably been answered many times but can somebody please tell me what's so great about the 321 movement? Is it just because it's vintage? Sorry for the dumb question

And more detailed dissection of the 321 movement:
.

Okay, sat through this guy's presentation for 44 minutes...I was hoping he would actually answer the question why he thinks the 321 is so much better, but he really doesn't. That being said it was somewhat painful and puzzling in several areas. Lots of incorrect terms used throughout, but that's not unusual.

Some poor practices displayed, such as incomplete disassembly - he leaves the hammer spring, sliding gear, sliding gear spring etc. on this bridge...

In the follow-up video it appears the same parts are still on the bridge after final cleaning, so not a full and proper disassembly.

He also is prying off bridges with a steel screwdriver...

An absolute no-no, as this will greatly increase the chances of scratching the plates and bridges. I use bronze tweezers or a small brass tool that I fabricated to remove bridges.

But he also says some things that don't make much sense at all. When he removes the wheel train and barrel bridge in the first photo, he mentions that the crown wheel is missing a tooth, but it "winds smoothly". How would it wind okay missing a tooth? How would he know it's missing a tooth before he took it apart, unless he felt something in the winding?

He then says he is going to have to find one "through his contacts" and he's not sure he can find one, and in any case he's not too worried about it. This guy claims to be Omega certified (OWME), and Omega has this part in stock...all he would have to do is order one, and they aren't expensive. Not replacing this risks damage to both the ratchet wheel, but more importantly the winding pinion. The winding pinion is discontinued and are expensive when you find them. Note that he never addresses this in the next video, so we don't know if he replaced it or not.

The next odd thing is when he's removing the hour recorder bridge on the dial side. He states that you can;t remove this with the barrel still in place, which is certainly not correct. He says something like "If I would have taken this off the barrel would have no support and everything would have let go." He makes it sound like the whole thing will fall apart - it won't - I remove this bridge all the time before I remove the barrel, and there's 100% no issue doing this...here's one where I have removed the bridge with the barrel in place - no catastrophic results...

I've watched the next one, and it doesn't get any better...

Amazingly a correct & full disassembly of a 321 movement video can not yet be found on YouTube...

He hasn’t yet answered on is IG page why/how he got the photos or the case - which surely seems the most burning question!

Anyways, photos!

I suspect he won't be selling it like the 50th anniversary bracelets 😉

i don’t know the backstory here. But his IG Comments were focusing a bit on bracelet fit and modification of the 321 to the FOIS case

Here is a crazy theory:

Perhaps he is one of the 'single watchmakers who will assemble the whole watch' (for the Australian market). Perhaps Omega are tapping into their certified-watchmaker-network to do the assembly per continent, and just shipping parts...

Like I said...a crazy theory.

I suspect this theory is crazy. He just bought a case from Omega...they are available.
