Overall I like it! When I first saw the picture, I was neither excited nor disappointed.

The only reservation I have is the graphic on the subdial. It looks too busy, and I was hoping for something a little more subtle there. I was expecting some sort of gold graphic at 9, and was just hoping it wasn't too pronounced or ugly. So it could have been better, but could have been worse too. The rest of the watch makes up for it though.

Having said that, I have my deposit down and I am first on the list ad my AD.
Given the historical significance of this piece, the somewhat limited production, and the overall
esthetics, I plan on getting it.

I'm with you 100%. I promised my wife this will be my last Omega.😉

Interesting the movement ref has not changed but is made of different material. Reading up that it’s taken 4 years to develop, I suspect this will be part of the standard speedy in a year or so. What will be interesting is if they make this for the sapphire model only or both.

The material didn't change, only the plating colour. So in effect this is no different that having 861's that are gold and some that are copper.

They typically only change the caliber designation when there are different levels of finishing applied to the same base movement, so the 861 has just regular graining, and 863 has Côtes de Genève on the bridges 1861 has regular graining, and 1863 has Côtes de Genève...

@Archer, does the Omega extranet have the part number for the bracelet yet?

Already posted it, but I'm not going to post it in every one of the 43 threads on this watch...it's in the speculation thread.

Not bad, but....

1. I wouldn't drop $10k on that.
2. I'd rather had a 60th anniversary Broad arrow speedy and save $2k (new price) or $4k (pre-owned)
3. I'd rather have an Apollo 11th 45th anniversary for the same price.
4. I'd rather have a Rolex GMT (DON'T HATE me for saying that! haha).

It's like with other models, some people love it, some people dislike it, just human nature.

Now the real question is dropping the money for this one or not...

And maybe the timing of when to drop that money for maximum effect...…...

The real question is how much this model will do on the second market or if it doesn't sell...

Disappointed. 👎
+ 1 🙁 I must be getting old too..
+2

My consolation is that it saves another difficult justification discussion with my lovely wife. She always tells me I don't need another watch, and when I saw this latest LE I agree I at least don't need this watch.

I would much rather put $9,650+ USD into the best '67-68 I could find at that price point. Heck, the Gemini IV and Apollo 11 35th Anniv LE's are still selling below that value... to each their own.

The underside of the endlink looks similar to the newer 8800 Seamasters (no small tabs on each side). Unless other endlinks become available, I don't think they'll fit the usual Speedmaster cases.

Seems to me that after reading through the posts that the price is the real sticking point. Simple, like everything else in life... If you can't afford it don't buy it! But don't hate it because others can. The piece has all angles covered for future models bar the 321. The age of the Bi Metal will be back upon us and this will be a sought after piece
Well done Omega. Another satisfied customer.

Not understanding the hype on that bracelet - the end links look like crap.

Have I accidentally stumbled into a Rolex forum?

My order of decision-making starts with "Do I like this?", then moves to "Can I afford it?" and this one never gets past question 1.

The age of the Bi Metal will be back upon us

Dear space-god-in-the-sky I hope that's not true...
