I agree that the black/grey looks better. I actually think that the color scheme is one of the strong points of this watch.

In the UK, I can get a NATO strap from China for £2.50 sent admittedly there is a different in quality.Does make you wonder?

I'm really not sure that is comparing like with like.

True, but longines can fill that...

And plenty of other brands are positioning themselves in the sub Omega/Rolex price point. There is hardly a lack of choice?

Yes, this is a very real possibility.
As the likes of Rolex and Omega keep pushing upward, it leaves room at a lower end of the price spectrum for brands like Tudor, Longines, Tag, Seiko, GS, etc to fill the vacuum

Quite, you said it so much better than me!

My understanding is that warranty is five years and a service is between five and eight.
On the Omega website there is a very good section about servicing.
Thank you Stuart.

Epic!!
Haha. There’s loads I don’t know about watches. No idea what a “milky ring” is. Didn’t know the watch was co-axial, and had to actually google what co-axial meant 😵‍💫. Few other things I’ve googled too since reading this thread.

For me I just love the look of the watch. Only learned it existed last week on the day I posted in this thread. Happy to have a deposit down though. Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

Yeah but I am afraid. You never know what google is going to show you. There are some things that I really don’t care about knowing and milky ring is one them.

If this commemorates the Apollo 11 lunar mission why is the case back devoted to an event of 1962?

Maybe that's the old one and I skipped reading a few posts. If so, my bad.

Look at the opaque light grey ring around the edge of the crystal in the 1st image on the 1st page of this thread. That is the effect you get with sapphire crystals. You don't get it with hesalite crystals. I suppose it is caused by refraction of light or some such effect (my high school physics was looong ago) due to the properties of the sapphire.

I was referring to the pic on page 13 (my screen).
Ok, I might be wrong but I am pretty sure someone people will help me out here. The back case that you are showing is from a LE called First Omega in Space, referring to an event in 62. The Apollo 11 is about the first watch to be “on” the Moon in 69.

The case back image is on the 1st page of this thread. It's all about 1969. 😉

Oops, I saw the one on page thirteen. The one on page one is fantastic. So is the front. It sure was a special event. I was eighteen at the time on leave from my first four months in the service. I remember thinking I was lucky for that event to occur in my lifetime.
