Not bad, but....

1. I wouldn't drop $10k on that.
2. I'd rather had a 60th anniversary Broad arrow speedy and save $2k (new price) or $4k (pre-owned)
3. I'd rather have an Apollo 11th 45th anniversary for the same price.
4. I'd rather have a Rolex GMT (DON'T HATE me for saying that! haha).
Cost of production, and Omega wants to look forward and not wallow in the past.[/

Yes - maybe. But it would have been cool with 321. When people say cal. 321 - the first thing that pops up in People’s miks is the “real” moonwatch.

The material didn't change, only the plating colour. So in effect this is no different that having 861's that are gold and some that are copper.

They typically only change the caliber designation when there are different levels of finishing applied to the same base movement, so the 861 has just regular graining, and 863 has Côtes de Genève on the bridges 1861 has regular graining, and 1863 has Côtes de Genève...

Al,

What's your take on the co-ax with free sprung balance with silicon hairspring version of this version of the 1861?

Everyone crying about not being flight certified when 99% of us probably aren't even pilots.
Over engineering sells....

Seems to me that after reading through the posts that the price is the real sticking point. Simple, like everything else in life... If you can't afford it don't buy it! But don't hate it because others can. The piece has all angles covered for future models bar the 321. The age of the Bi Metal will be back upon us and this will be a sought after piece
Well done Omega. Another satisfied customer.
Sigh....... "If you can't afford it don't buy it!"

Me neither - except from the foot print on the back case
I do agree- the footprint is quite cool. Arse and Foot are the wrong way round I think.

I'm done reading here. Got the bracelet part number to maybe use in the distant future, and as I'm just not interested in the look of this watch, it's another Speedmaster LE that I will never have to think about again. I'm certain those that like it will enjoy it once it is on their wrist.

People don't like Aldrin's image at 9 o'clock, tacky, cheap, 'uncool, man'. But a cartoon beagle in the same spot, 'man, that's cool'. And many would throw down $9650 if they could get a Snoopy.

Go figure.

Actually I don't like either of them.

I was offered first right of refusal on the Snoopy LE by my local OB manager and turned it down because I thought it looked a bit silly/infantile and to be honest I was never a massive Charlie Brown fan. If I had known that the Snoopy LE would quadruple in value I might have made an investment decision, but I almost certainly would have kept it in the safe and flipped it for something actually worth US$25K down the road (a VC overseas, for example).

We get it: you like the new 50th LE. Great, awesome, even supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Wear it in excellent health from day you receive it!😀

Just don't expect everyone else to fall in love with it.🙄

What, are you saying that we should be giving a good old boot up Buzz Aldrin's arse?😁

Have to say I LOVE the strap that comes with it i'm normally a metal fan but this just somehow suits it so well. The worn thing works amazingly.

That angle makes the watch look terrible. Really don't like the amount of gold as it is all over the side of the bezel too. I wouldn't call it gold accents if everything on the dial and bezel is gold. Plus the gold doesn't look as pale as Moonshine did on the earlier Speedy limited Moonshine watch...looks too in-your-face yellow gold.

Plus sapphire continues to look terrible on the Speedy. They should have done domed sapphire like Oris.

Agreed, I am sure a huge contingent of OF members can buy this watch, this is not high end Patek or ALS.

The question many on the OF will ask though is quite simple: are there more agreeable watches available for US$10K or less?

YES!!!😁

Not for me. And that was not what Armstrong said. It was what he was suppose to say.

Speedmaster TBB:
Tribute to Buzz's Butt 😁

I am suggesting ABSoTM (astronaut’s butt side of the moon).

A couple of things I noticed about this watch:

* The applied 11 looks funky, but there’s no lume so I’d have no idea if it was around eleven o’clock at night 😵‍💫

* The watch is apparently one of their new Novelty watches - when I was growing up a novelty watch was like a toy watch, or something that had a cartoon character (Snoopy?!?) on the dial
