Hello !

I have recently purchased a Watchco Seamaster 300 (from this forum actually), and I bought it with a uncle seiko flatlink bracelet, however it does not really feel secure on the clasp and I don't like the hollow endlinks very much.

Can anyone recommend alternative bracelets or mesh straps that would fit the lugs of this watch and also the styling ?

I'd love to see some of the other member' Seamaster 300's for inspiration.

Attaching a couple pictures of the way the watch looks now.

Check our Forstner Bands https://forstnerbands.com/ they have a reproduction of the original Flat Link the the SM300 was sold with!
Thank you for your recommendation!,
I looked through the site and only found this https://forstnerbands.com/collectio...tner-flat-link-bracelet-for-omega-speedmaster

When I read through the description I get the impression that it doesn't fit the SM300 and I'd be worried that the endlinks are wrong for it (and can't be fixed since they are solid) are you sure this would fit ?

I do like some of the other bracelets on this site very much though such as the bonklip and rivet so thank you for linking me this !

@SkunkPrince went through this drill with his watchco, he may be able to lend some insight.

I am actually pretty fond of the Uncle Seiko tropic on these vintage style divers. I have a few of the vintage tropics and the US is a bit beefier, which I don’t care for on smaller vintage divers (36-38mm) but they work well on larger pieces like this.
Here is one on my sub. I modified the ends to curve with the case as the sub had almost no clearance.

I haven’t put it back on the bracelet since this went on.

Thanks for the rec, I hadn't really considered going rubber since I am usually a bracelet guy but I must say that tropic looks great on your sub!

How did you modify the ends ? If you bent the springbar is it safe and still extends properly ?

I'm going to look into perhaps getting one of these or maybe a isofrane as an alternative to a bracelet for the summer 😀

Send them a message and ask! Their mesh bracelet is another great option and it will fit almost anything!

Good idea, I just emailed them, we shall see what they respond, if the flat link doesn't fit I would be very tempted to get a Rivet bracelet or even a Beads of rice, thank you for the rec. I shall post their reply here to let others looking for Seamaster 300 bracelets in the future know. 😉

You may not have a clearance issue on the 300 with the strait tropic, but it rubbed the case on the sub- any strap rubs the case unless it’s 1mm thick or less or you use curved spring bars - total PITA.
Oh wow you really put in some work to make it fit, props to you for the perseverance !
I think on the 300 it would be fine though, it has decent clearance.
Also good to know about this if I ever buy a sub 14060, as I have been wanting one for a while now !
What is your personal opinion on the oyster that the 14060 comes with BTW ?

The factory oyster is fine, like any stamped Rolex oyster. I actually like them as I am a vintage bracelet guy and like the jingly nature of stamped endlinks. Plus the older bracelets are lighter which I prefer. The diver extension is problematic as they wear and get loose (mine is) so that’s a Rolliworx fix.

I have a 300 with the Forster and it works fine.

the Omega mesh with the seatbelt clasp works well too.
Though nothing beats the OG 1039.

Wow you have another one after the one you sold me and the one I recently saw you sell !? Amazing man.

Thanks for letting me know about the forster working.

Also I'd be interestested in knowing the ref of the seatbelt mesh that you are using ?

It’s 1380/237

I actually prefer the Uncle Seiko especially with the Omega clasp. The hollow end links just feel more like the 1039/516 combo.

The Forstner is great though and does feel very solid. Mine is modded with an Omega clasp.

The bracelet itself on the uncle seiko feels great and the hollow endlinks are OK but I am just bothered by the clasp feeling insecure, I am used to modern clasps with buttons or at least fold-over tabs to keep them closed whereas the uncle seiko actually opened by itself earlier today (and I was not wearing it too tight or loose) would you recommend I simply bend the tab on the clasp using a pliar to make it secure again?

Yup- put electrical tape around the tips of a small pliers to not leave tool marks, bend inward slightly on both sides of the finger catch. Should get it snug

I have now bent the little tiny tab in the center of the image slightly more downwards and it works much better now, is this what you meant or is there even more that I should do to make it more snug ?

I still think I will get a second bracelet and perhaps a tropic like others here recommended but this is much better for now and I prefer it to the nato I had it on temporarily!

Well, that is the way to do that one. The method I recommended was for the omega style clasps where the end cap goes over the bar of the first link- but same premise- just tightening up bendable metal.

And you can never have too many options for straps and bracelets

Very very true! I have too few right now, I spend next to no money on straps and bracelets but have impulse bought expensive watches on a few occassions ::facepalm1::
