A natural outcome of the Defund the Police movement in the US. As the article states low, or no, bail for these crooks means they are quickly back out on the streets to continue the mayhem. It's a low risk, high reward, activity now in many cities.

exact same in Paris, my dad's partner got heavily punched by 3 guys for a steel Daytona ... that's why most speedmasters fly under the radar

When I’m in the city now there is a Timex or Baltic on my wrist or some under the radar vintage steel that wont be noticed. I miss the days when vintage and modern watch markets were not over heated and over hyped. when an insured watch could be replaced by simply going to a dealer. I really resent not feeling comfortable wearing what I want.
Totally agree. My collection is moving towards reasonably priced (for me) pieces that don’t draw attention. I’ve never worn watches for the glitz and stay around 37mm and under anyway. Always under the sleeve when I travel unless I’m wearing an inexpensive piece.

Maybe it was an AD trying to get some stock to display/ sell? Heck maybe even a Rolex boutique.

The town I live in just outside of DC saw 3 carjackings in 1 week in early April. We're already past 50% of the 2021 total so far this year. Freaking ridiculous.

Was that just by the AD when they asked to be put on the waitlist?!

Amir has been robbing the public with his lackluster displays in the ring so it's probably a disgruntled boxing fan who wanted to have the money for his ringside seats back
And the glass chin hasn’t helped I did like him early on. (Not cool he got robbed of course)

See that is just nasty I have fought off a robbery. It was just one guy almost as soon as I fought back he backed off. If three people try to rob me I’d hope the give me the opportunity to just give up the goods. I’m all for a fair fight but if you got a group don’t just starting beating people that’s horrible.

Dude, you are new around here. NE DC in the early 1990s was the Wild West. Multiple armed carjackings daily, and killing driver was gang initiation. Going to certain areas of DC for work was very stressful back then.

These days DC area is like visiting a monastery by comparison.

I hear about these things in cities but I often shop at this pretty rural grocery store. A month or two back three women rushed through the store stuffing shopping carts with top meat cuts and pretty much else anything you can think of as the exited the store without paying an SUV pulled right up and they just tossed everything inside then took off. I notice since that event the store now hires a cop to sit out front. It was really weird people were filming them on phones they didn’t care. I won’t say this is the fault of any particular anything as I don’t know what was going on in their heads it’s just so damn shocking to witness a crime like that I was just standing in line buying olives and sushi everyone was kinda in shock I guess. I did eat a few olives as I waited for the commotion to end so I guess technically I stole as well as I hadn’t payed yet and they were the fresh olives you pay by the pound.

That’s what happened to Lando Norris, he was showing on social media where he was and that he had a Richard Mille on his wrist, they saw that and were waiting for him at his McLaren in the parking area. Was all too easy for them really.
Wow! You would think these guys travel with personal security given their profile and their team's investment in their well being.

Chicago has had its fair share of robberies and carjackings lately. Unfortunately have to be extra-careful these days. I'm sure watch theft is bound to uptick here. It's like there are nor rules anymore.

Actual crime statistics of the 70’s through late 90’s: worst in U.S. history

People today who grew up in the 70’s through late 90’s: “growing up was so amazing, before all this crazy stuff - I used to hitchhike to concerts, now I never leave the house

Yeah, I've seen pictures of major cities during this period. Head on a swivel, no doubt.

I grew up in Los Angeles during the 70’s-80’s, used to ride my bike around with my friends to the bowling alley, donut shop, pizza place. It was also the peak era for serial killers in California. Good times.
