Yeah I didnt expect this as well. Got a personal email from the manager and he's so sorry for this and he said its clearly unacceptable. He asked me to bring the watch tomorrow and they will swap it for a brand new one since they have a delivery this week. Thanks
I鈥檓 glad for the positive outcome

So just wondering, what happens to the month old watch that is taken back? Sent back to JLC so they can deal with it, maybe a dial replacement? Or maybe dealer replaces the strap and puts it back in the case as a brand new watch for the next customer to buy? Like any manufactured item it can only be new once, this is clearly a used watch now. Maybe that next new watch you buy from an AD isn't really new at all.

I would kind of side with the view that says that its unfair to put the thing in front of macro lenses ... except for the fact that every luxury watch company going produces watch porn that is shot with macro lenses and raves about the level of detail, the craftsmanship etc. That sets the bar where the AD has rightfully seen it is. Glad they're sorting it out.

Good question, my guess is that it will go back to JLC and get refurbed and then become a demonstrator to be used at promotional events.

My experience of JLC service is that they will address any issue without quibbling at all. Glad they are handling it for you. 馃憤

Yes I will still ask until they give me the perfect piece I dont care because its my hard earned money and I expect a perfect piece. I owned omegas and rolexes and I didnt get this kind of problem even I used my macro lense/loop because I love those tiny details example is my moonphase chrono I bought the watch because its beautiful and mainly because of those tiny moonboot print. Thanks for your advice anyway but I will push for a brand new one.

Your original post asked "Should I just keep it and pretend its not there or send it back to AD and see what's gonna be the verdict?" Then the 1st person that says you should just wear it and you kinda jumped all over him. I don't get it.

I have had two positive dealings with JLC ADs .. In Chicago they sourced and replaced my Reverso strap with one that fit better, allowing me to enjoy the watch for a bit before coming back to swap it out. In Paris they went to bat for me months after purchase to recover my VAT. At both the purchase experience was fantastic. This watch is not typical of JLC quality but the their dealer response is. I鈥檓 happy the matter is being sorted.

The manager said it will definitely go back to JLC and definitely not gonna resell it again. The word is "scrap" according to him.

Yeah Im glad that the manager took this matter over the top in terms of customer service rather than bulling around. He even called me on my mobile phone just to update me that he emailed his boss and JLC representative as well since this is a big issue of quality control and he said you didn't buy a 20$ watch from Kmart eventhough if you are not happy they will replace it and give you a new one 馃榾. JLC responded and very sorry about this "Imperfection" and shouldn't pass their quality control and because of this they will give me an additional free blue alligator leather strap since the manager told them that I am a good customer and I deserved a compensation for this incident. So happy with my AD and JLC resolutions. Thanks

Blown away by your macro skills... wow!
Simple: You bought the watch new from an AD and if that speck is not a natural product of the material they use to lume the markers on the dial then the watch should be replaced no questions asked. I applaud JLC for their decision in this matter.

Remind me never to take such incredible macro shots of my watches...

If you have someone less than 20 yrs old in your house, have them take a look at it. With the contrast of colors, I think this would actually fail visual inspection.

Yes I actually did, my daughter and son actually spotted that dot but my wife couldn't see it at first but upon showing her the macro shot then she said yes and ask me why theres a black spot in there? Lol

A very good result.
I would love to know what happens to that dial. I suspect a solvent will be used in minute quantity, viol脿 instant repair !
Where to then ? Maybe a good buy as a "demonstrator"?

What city do you live in? If you're close to me, I'll swing by there and make them an offer on that "scrap" JLC.

Wait, in the future you will have the rare dot on dot variation. Just keep it and enjoy it.
The super rare Marty Feldman commemorative.

I asked today and unfortunately JLC wants the watch back to main office in swiss for further investigation.
