Anyone know how “waterproof” this seamaster is if the service is done right
Don't go snorkeling with it 😎

Not really Waterproof. Treat it with care, I had a few 166020 and they weren't really great in that department.

ok Thanks that’s what I figured but this will be my first seamaster. I have issues with one other vintage watch. Oddly it’s the more valuable one. My old Waltham’s and bulovas do just fine. The constellation doesn’t like our humid New England summers.

I have a 60’s SMDV that recently passed a 30m water resistance test. I don’t plan on testing this out anytime soon but it does offer a degree of reassurance should the unexpected happen.

It's worth more than 10 times your original purchase price, A little bit of work and that a stealth !

Thanks it’s being serviced now I’ll post pics when it’s done. Nice to see the pics of the restored watches. There are a few marks on the dial, may be from a poor service job over the years. The person I got it from is someone I know who knows I collect watches. He picked it up with me in mind which I thought was a very decent thought. Thus I’m not thinking of this as a flip and if I did sell it i would feel compelled to give money to my source. Looking at final value gets a bit confusing. I’d say 400 a little over or under after service and cleaned up may be reasonable but then you look on Chronos and see the same year selling for 800-1500 and all with different straps on them. Perhaps those prices should be in the wishful thinking thread. In this case I’m just looking it as a nice addition to the collection.

Well just got the watch back. Crystal was polished didn’t get the authentic, maybe down the road. I was lucky the only issue with the movement was with the bushings. I’m a bit disappointed with the dial. It has some marks on it but overall I’m only in 220 on the watch so I’m ok with that. I like the fact it’s a no date.
So as you can see it’s not perfect but looking at the before and after it was a good 40 dollar purchase. Definitely a nice watch to wear and not be paranoid about.

You are correct JW I debated taking them inside tonight. I’ll try again tomorrow in daylight. My watch picture skills are very poor but my cat pictures in the animal thread are quite nice

Didn’t mean to put up the three watches but I’ll just leave it. I think I’m up
To like 5 or six boxes with three or four watches with no home space. It’s getting a little crazy. I need to either get one big one or another box for ten or so. It’s getting a little crazy. I’ve seen you guys with cabinets full I’m not going to that level but my current system isn’t working that well.

Very nice! Great foundling.
Thanks took a quick picture as I was in a well lighted area. Usually my photos are quite poor. It seems the best deals I find on watches is when I’m not looking for them. I figure I should just stop looking for watches and my collection may improve.
