Thats a good point, and its been done again and again in the series.
I think the writers said he was dead, no? In any case Craig isn't coming back, and he probably wanted his Bond written off so there would be no way for him to come back no matter how much money he'd be offered.

I kind of liked Craig as Bond. It appears to me they might move forward towards a woman 007. It’s the new Hollywood craze of changing a character as much as possible from the original intent. I like the new Bond watch even though I’m still not crazy about the Bond gimmick and definitely not about the price.

I like Craig as well, just didnt like the directors decision to go for a darker more realistic Bond. To me Bond film has to have humor and totaly over the top stunts. The casino scene of Casino Royal was way too long and boring, and I do not like the torture scene, or any torture scene for that matter.
And Quantum of Solas...meh

So does that mean we dont get a new Bond as 007? Its going to be "Agent McSpyface 007" and not use the Bond name? I dont think they would do that.

Moore had to do more films than he wanted and realy had a problem with beeing a leading (old) man to the young Bond girls. Good old Roger!

Sean Connery came back twice! (Trice, if you count "The Rock") so if the money is good, who knows.

I share exactly the same opinion ! Bond film has to have the sense of humor and the top stunts, to me they were all good, and in my opinion Pierce Brosnan was the last "real JB". As Hen said, Graig is too darker and without any humours...

As long as they keep featuring Omega watches and women who look like this, I don’t care who plays Bond. 😀

Be great to see a pre bond - bond . How did he become a 00 & the training involved .
😉 it's all about British author Ian Fleming (1908-1964) ... and the watch he described was a Rolex based on his own 1016 Explorer 😗

No dispute about the Rolex in the books, but Bond should be wearing an Omega. He is a Royal Navy man and Omega was the Royal Navy’s choice. Fleming got it wrong. 😀

IMO Craig has been the best Bond so far. The tone of the movies is perfect, and I personally loathed the rather dumb unrealistic movies with Roger Moore in them. But to each their own...

I don’t think that will happen since Bond is not one to post his watch on Instagram trying to get likes and followers.

Also……anyone think some of the books were better than the movies? Obviously some can’t be compared such as The Spy Who Loved Me since the movie is just a title and has nothing to do with the book. But I think Moonraker was a better book than the movie. Maybe a new movie could be based on one of the Anthony Horowitz books.

Not everybody do get it, and the ones that does are aware that it is fiction.

There's good and bad fiction...the Moore era was mostly very bad.

Yes its called camp I belive. Let me put it this way; how do you think the Lethal Weapon francise would have done in the box office if it was a "serious" action movie?

I agree most definitely the Moonraker book is better than the movie. But the current Casino Royale is better the original novel.

Think I've read most of the books which aren't Ian Fleming written - but continue James Bond and agree all very good and would make good movies. I've got to get through the Fleming one.

Colonel Sun however I'm finding a very difficult read - feels like the author is trying too hard to be Fleming, but also clever at the same time.

Unfortunately I expect like Casino Royale novel - they are of their time - stereotypical racism etc.

Am I not allowed to like what I like in your world? As I said, to each their own. If you like that sort of movie, that's fine. I don't, and think the Craig era was a much needed reboot and refocus of the series. Dalton played it well in my view, but the Brosnan era seems very dated even now.
