Use a picture based search engine. That will show you that dial and it's variants. With a non working mvmt. that is double the price for the dial in good condition...

Honestly dont care about cost and condition and cant see any equivs in any picture search engines. Kinda beside the point though, I'm intreagued as to how this could come about, is it real or someones 'special'?

While I don't recall seeing one of these before, the trouble with less desirable models is that variants are poorly documented. This one doesn't look outside of what I would expect one could look like.

Assuming it’s not pegged to the dial, and it may be I will concede, that may have fallen off and been reattached by a clumsy seller. A greedy seller too looking at the price.

Not everything MADE in a factory, LEAVES the factory through authorised channels.

Workers in Australia used to have a work bag for their lunch etc.

They were called "Wattle" bags. Some people thought "how patriotic, naming their bags after the national floral emblem!"

The workers however, only had one thought about the bag. "What'll it carry?" as I walk out of the factory/shipyard/worksite.......

The original Ω symbol would have been riveted to the dial.

I’ve deffo seen exactly that pattern used on a hummer from either Bulova or Universal Geneve though which is interesting.

I recall the 70's as a kid, the only thing that was remotely funky was top of the pops. Rest of us had a pretty average life with the most electronic thing we were likely to have being a radio and tv 😜

Yeah, we were unlikely to come across any of these ultra-expensive Omega quartz watches !
Late 70s we had the first Casio multi-mode calculators though, with time features still have mine, endless hours of fun ;-)

79 I got a leatherette pouch Casio calculator that lasted best part of 2 decades, never died just got lost with all the other stuff.

It's from a gold plated 198.0045.

Not sure what makes it bizarre?

Definitely not bizarre but not common. I think I had one of these a while back.
One hummer maker with the patterned dial was Tissot. They produced something very similar to this. I’ll have a scrounge around and see if I can find one.
