I love reading “find” stories from a heirloom inheritance to a watch someone has found in the bottom of a bucket in a garage or even a watch purchased from the back pages of the internet.

These threads are often hard to search as the title are always obscure so I would like ask what’s your favourite “find” story/thread on OF?

I’ll start off with this one (coincidentally in Australia where I live):

The tread that still doesn’t have a picture of the watch with a bezel 😉
And brushed finish on the lugs 😀

The Speedmaster's a '69 that I bought over Craigslist for $500 in 2015.

The Seamaster was, essentially, free, due to the fact that it came with a 7077 and 6 end links which'd been filed down, the sale of both of which well more than covered the original price of $1200.

There are plenty more, but most of them have found new homes. Happy hunting.

This is the $3 Seiko I found at a flea market, before and after restoration and service:

Not the craziest find, but by far my luckiest so far 😀

I found this in a local charity store quite a few years ago and did an exhaustive internet search with mixed response claiming a 'frankenwatch' and others saying it was an extremely rare variation, it has since been sold for an amount that I was happy with at the time, thoughts?
The first picture is after I had it serviced, and during the service, the lume from the lollipop hand was lost!
If I'd have known what I know now, I wouldn't have had anyone touch it!
