Yes, some extreme folks have deemed the entire holiday racist. I support trying to be more sensitive and tolerant, but the labeling and calling out people as racist is getting out of control. It has driven people apart, not brought them together. Yes racism still exists, but I disagree with the path many have chosen to eliminate it. There is no sense of degree. A small racially insensitive comment is often placed on the same level as the most extreme forms of racism.
I have adopted the notion that I am strongly against racism, but I am not anti-racist. I am against racist actions and systems, but not people. All people have the potential to change, and most do not have bad intetentions, only ignorance.
