·According to some sources he was searching for the northwest passage in around the year 1578 when a form of thanksgiving was given on Canadian shore.another Yorkshireman,William bradford arrived in North America on the Mayflower and became a very prominent person in the early settlement.ironically John Harrison the man credited with developing a time keeper accurate enough to measure longitude was born within 10 miles of both Frobisher and Bradford.
