Now I was offered this today. Rolex not my area. I'm an Omega man but this does look good. What do the forum experts think as to originality and value. I don't have a clue. It certainly felt lovely!

I can't comment on the watch, I don't know jack about Rolex, but I'll be the pot, you be the kettle, and I'll say slow down! Tend to the mk2, mk3 and the speedy. Take a breather! 😀

I'm trying to figure out the dial version though? Hard to tell from the pic, but looks closed "6" like a Mark VI but the flat "S" is for sure a Mark V.

Ha Oddboy, you know me too well already! Yes I need to step back but it did look a lovely thing. I am sure I will come to my senses eventually. Having a baby does disorientate one somewhat!

Mark 5 I think - 1969? Price was 9500 dollars. A bit over the top I think. But what do I know!

Yeah, everything else looks like a Mark V. Must just be the pic resolution. So when do you pick it up?

Is this a good price? I really have no idea on these. And BTW OB, I am not buying it! My wife might be...as a present for me!

Bezel is not original, would be good to see some more pics from other angles including bracelet clasp endlinks etc

Price wise, about middle of the pack, according to eBay's completed transactions, but not as good a deal as this one, already sold at same price, with box and better condition: http://www.ebay.com/itm/281545291041.

A general advice; vintage sport-Rolexes, especially the more pricy ones, like this red sub, don´t buy anything without a very thorough due diligence! There are so many pitfalls you can fall into 🙁

Good advice. I think I shall walk away slowly....but occasionally turning to look back and stare wistfully and wonder what might have been....

That one also has a service bezel, very heavy polishing, replacement hands and the box is off a modern watch not a vintage one. Crazy money considering what it is.

So I walk away and around the corner stumbled over this. 10k. As is. No box or papers. What do we think? 52eb34790e336b20667d2de469e1e225.jpg

Lume color looks off on both. Maybe the white balance on your camera needs adjustment. Try taking pic against a white background.

Methinks too much $$ for what it is. Lugs look a bit too polished in those photos. Bracelet looks like it is very stretched, too (but that is relatively easy to have repaired -- for $150).
