My 27.5 fell apart during my last ride so out comes the 29er today! Man, what a difference in the ride! 29er feels like you’re sitting on a lazy boy and just chilling!

Lol I remember my first time riding a 29.
It was a Yeti shop demo and I was just like man I can go over ANYTHING!
This was also one of my first times riding rocky east coast trails.
I promptly found myself over the bars hah.

Pretty much all year in So Cal, caught my crash on video ok the landing. But that’s something, I seldom crash twice this year so not bad for the amount of riding and racing I do. I’m going on a 60k ride right now, by

Road riding scares me. I put all my eggs in the mountain basket.
I did a 222km road ride last Saturday, alone. To be honest riding on the road is pretty safe. But like in life, some idiot can hurt you. But is a risk I’m willing to take.

Thank you! I believe it is a close as it can get to it's original color of Savannah Beige.
Definitely a work in progress. Just had a full motor rebuild and has been running great!
So I take any chance I can get to take it out. Especially now that the weather is getting a bit nicer.
And on Sunday, that was stuffing the bike in the back and hitting a local trail.
Got to kill 2 birds with one stone that way - a nice drive and a bike ride. Twas a nice day indeed.

Nice type 3!

my first car was a 312 fastback... it had an injection system so complicated it was hard to keep the car on the road. VW’s fix for the fuel system was a kit that contained a new air box, manifolds, linkage and...

...a pair of Weber carbs.

The kit was more than the car was worth so we figured out how to keep the injection system working.

so much for fuel injection circa 1972.

Nice! I have always loved all of the Type 3's but I'm a sucker for a "wagon".
Yeah this Square ditched the FI for a pair of Weber's before it was in my hands.
At one point, it was a single, because there was a cut-out in the engine cover lid for it to stick out of lol.
Carbs are another sort of beast. This is my fist time having to learn their mysteries.

Oi! Carbs are so simple compared to fuel injection. They’re not as reliable as injection when its working but at least you can fix the little bastards without digging out your degree in astrophysics and the Crystal ball.

Hah I suppose that is true. In any case I'm enjoying the experience.

Amazing warm day and most likely my last mtb ride of the season 🙁 However, I was unaware that my wife was able to snap a picture of me riding while her and our son were hiking 😀

Normally, the beginning of January would not be the best time to ride a bike in Central Europe, but today was indeed a good day for a new year's xc ride. 👍

Holy smokes…it’s 02JAN and it’s 60*F in Cincinnati, Ohio...definitely NOT normal! Anyway, just had to get my 2010 Schwinn Sprint fixed gear out for 1:16:19 of some good hillpeat efforts…

I wear my Speedmaster out in the desert on long rides and for bikepacking, and always take shit from other riders because "your watch dood, what's the point... no GPS, no HRM, like why even?"

Yeppers…I catch quite a bit of crap as well from my fellow masters teammates…as well as dudes from other teams. We’re all in our 40s and 50s and pretty much everybody has the latest gizmos regarding RPM, HR, and Watts. I used to have all that stuff when I was actively training/racing with the team, but since I’ve been inactive from the race circuit for several years, all I care about is seat time. Also…updates, downdates, sidewaydates, apps, more apps, batteries, chargers, blah, blah, blah…I got pretty tired of that stuff. I just wanna ride my bike hard and know for how long…and Speedy works pretty well for that.

Same as fishing nowadays it’s all side scanners / structure scanners and fish finding electronics. I just want to fish. Not look at a TV screen to find them first whilst not fishing….

My reliable very retro Cateye computers and my wristwatch tell what I need to know. On the water, a lot of my buddies have GPS. Me, my wrist watch and my marine radio. I know where I am, all I want to do is rip.

Great news just before Christmas, I had to visit hospital due to various problems which t.b.h. is basically old age 🙁 but whilst talking with a surgeon as often happens the conversation turned to exercise and I mentioned my love of cycling and I mentioned that several years ago after surgery I was instructed that I should not cycle again, my new surgeon could not believe the advice I had been given and advised I get back in the saddle as soon as I felt fine 🥰

First problem is the weather at the moment with snow and ice but the major problem is I sold my bikes way back after so called professional advice and I will have to start looking around for replacements.

Ok it is not going to be easy at my age but really looking forward to starting off on the trainer which I held on to 👍

Cycling is the best.

It saved my life literally (another post, another day).

I must admit that knowing I can get back in the saddle without damaging my health has really lifted my spirits plus an hour on the trainer left me feeling great 👍👍👍
