Pulling this thread back from the sticks for a quick hoof round the forest.
Had the entire place to myself again. Should bore you all with some video at some point.

On a tangent, is anyone doing the London to Brighton off road this year?

Another London to Brighton off road completed.
Weather was rather moist turning the final decent into a sloppy farce of epic proportions. If you didn't travel at least 50m in the slop on your face, were you even there?
Roll on next years...may bring a canoe.

My third build this year is a 3Rensho Super Record Export Aero (SRA) from 1983 with a Campagnolo Super Record groupset. A fair guess is that there are not many here on OF who know about the 3Rensho brand. A truly handbuilt frame to the absolute highest standard by Yoshi Konno and his small team. A watch analogy would be a chronometer built for observatory competitions.

The build is period correct in all details except the tires (they look as they should though). What stands out in this build - apart from the frame - of course are the vintage Roval wheels with their bladed and straight end spokes, hidden nipples and high profile (for 1983) rims, the 1983 aero seatpost by Cambio Rino and the aero conversion Super Record brake handles. Campagnolo did not make aero handles in 1983. The brake handle conversion is made by me using only Campagnolo parts that were available in 1983 - but not intended for this purpose. Parts used come from a rear derailleur.

Mountain biking last weekend, got into some poison ivy. Neck and arms. So bad went to doc for cortisone shot and follow up pills.

I'll spare y'all a pic of my affliction, but you can imagine.

Plant is pretty though, ain't it?

Leaves of 3, let it be.

Around here it comes in three varieties, ground cover (pic in my above post), bush, and vine. By far the most toxic are the vines, and also the most prevalent to come into contact with, as the tend to dangle off tree limbs over the trail.

The most dangerous thing you can do is burn them, as the smoke is toxic too. I helped clear some remote land many years ago and it was covered in poison ivy. Set the pile to burn and thank god I was upwind of it, as a day later came down with the worst contact poison ivy of my life.

Also, you can become allergic at any point in your life(or lose it too). As a kid I played in the forest almost daily with no affects but some friends got it something fierce. Now later in life I am intensely allergic.

Huh, had no idea about the effects of burning.
Luckily I don't think I will be getting myself into that situation anytime soon but I'll definitely file that away hah.

It was a gorgeous day at the Tsali Left Loop MTB trail in western North Carolina riding my Trek Top Fuel 9.8 29-er. It’s incredibly beautiful country for a variety of outdoor adventures.. I wore my sunny beater Prometheus Jellyfish diver for the day:

Fantastic bikes (and too many muscular riders) here. I'll have to start getting some of mine out and cleaning them for photos 😬

I am about half-way through the thread but have not yet seen any recumbents. Here is what was a regular Friday lunchtime ride in Cambridge UK. Mine is the red one at the back on the left.

A local single-track trail was closed by the city about a year ago and so my friend and I have not ridden our mountain bikes since then. We kept hearing people say “ride it anyway...” so a week ago we did just that. Today was the second time out since it was “closed” and it felt like we never left. We’d heard stories of parts of the trail having been destroyed, but so far we haven’t found anything changed. I was quite bummed to not ride there anymore, and so am very pumped about finding we can enjoy it again!

Seen that, interesting concept. Would like to know how stiff that arm is when MOAR WATTZZ happens.
Not sure about mtb use, interesting to watch.

Thoughts?
It's made by Ceramicspeed so it would probably be very expensive lol.
Definitely looks interesting...
