just dropped off my Specialized FS and hope to be out on the trails with the wife and my son this weekend. WI weather has been all over the place as of late so...fingers crossed.
Okey then... Bought as a totally bare frame from Italy and I spent this last weekend detailing the paint (paint chips, rubbing and waxing) and to build it up. A 1989 3Volumetrica with early C-Record (note the somewhat rare hi flange hubs), NOS Fausto Coppi LTD edition saddle, Regina SL chain, Cinelli bar and stem, etc. All period correct parts except for the pedals that are 1992.
Mountain biked through some beautiful country last weekend....and across a swamp. Bit of brush fire damage along trail beginning to grow back. You do have to dodge the spiders though...last pic he is as big as your hand...and eye level (of course). A couple years ago encountered a Panther on this trail. He jumped out on the trail about 10ft ahead of me, turned to look at me and thankfully was more interested in going his own way. Wish I had a pic of that but filling my shorts was at the top of my list at that moment.
Getting carbon bars and neck installed on the bike tomorrow morning. Hopefully the feel of this new setup is comparable to the likes of adding a JB Champion bracelet to an Ed White.
Is that green one a three-speed? I had a Columbia three-speed as a kid and that thing was a tank. I loved it.
Later today I will get this one ready to ride. A good tune up, lube and detail I should be good to go,
New carbon bars and stem installed . Rainy/gloomy day here in so Cal, so hopefully can take it for a test drive tomorrow. Read through this entire thread again this morning. You boys have some nice bikes. Also, 90+ mile ride with 20mph average. Wow that is flying. If I can 25+ miles at 14 mph I'm happy. How do I find some of you guys on Strava?
I just purchased a job. I need to setup this one for myself. I'll go through the bike and hopefully it will be a keeper Other than a tune up the saddle has to go other than that I should be good to go.
I was taking a good inventory of the Serotta I posted. Not sure what I'm going do with restoration of the bike. Someone changed the headset, stem, brake levers, handle bars, seat and post easy enough to correct but that quickly turns into a money pit. Looking through some spare parts I have I may just change the brifter levers I have a spare set of dura ace which will work . I may go with a down tube shifter. However the bike as is rides great. I rode the bike about ten miles today and am very happy with the ride of the serotta. I have been looking around Ebay for vintage correct parts Some of the sellers are asking crazy prices for the parts. styggpyggeno1 Nice work on your restorations. If I can get close to your attention to detail I'll wind up with a nice bike.
Love the bars/stem. Finally went out on a short ride. Huge improvement. I am on strava, search bernard san diego and you will recognize the avatar.
That is the whole point of a good tease... Get the interest up - let them linger a while - and then deliver.
Looking for some bicycle tips. What can make me go faster? I recently added carbon bars/stem and that made a huge difference in my times (and ride comfort). Lots of PR with strava. My bike is carbon cannondale synapse, so pretty basic. I don't really want to spend money unless it will make a huge difference. carbon front wheel or wheel set? But would this really be good bang for my buck? Or should I just buy another Speedmaster?
Great thred beautiful bikes .... I ride on weekends with great group of friends cycling through Epping forest here in the uk a great place for mountian biking .
