Q: Hey, what's the forecast? A: 100% chance of pain. Looks like we'll be having another painfest this year...just received the 2016 racing license...I dunno...this will be my 5th year of road racing...the road season hasn't even started and I already feel sorta burned out...
Beautiful 57 deg. sunny day, today, so I went out... While on the way back, a rabid canine-type urge suddenly came over me: Unfortunately, I don't carry around a tripod the way @Mad Dog must do in order to get the double bad-ass dog Hang-Ten!
Lots of cool bikes here (and watches, and cars, and some good legs...). Thought I'd throw up a link to a bike I built up for my dad recently. Beware, old crap warning: https://picasaweb.google.com/114696...nagoArabesqueBuild?authuser=0&feat=directlink
It was a beautiful day in southern Ohio/northern Kentucky...clear and about 70*F. It was our first masters team ride of the year/season and we did about 70-75 miles...10 of 14 members showed up...good times! Mad Dog is the dude on the far left in the first pic...second pic is my trusty 2011 Schwinn Paramount Series 9...
Ummm...that's a super hot vintage Colnago!!! Good golly!!! Does that Campy seat really inflate via that presta valve? Holy smokes...I've never seen a seat like that until now...very cool!!!
very cool. I'm in the market for a new MTB myself. Price point up to $7k. I'm still on my Litespeed Ocoee hard-tail , but would like full-suspension... Can you make some recommendations? So far, I've only looked at Trek...
Mostly forested single/double track, somewhat technical (rocks, stumps), off-road climbs/descents for up to 700 ft. I weigh 67kg (147#) 5'8"... I know the bike shop will make their rec's; but of course, they're biased toward what they carry, though I think Trek makes some nice ones...
i20rider is right, you're options are wide open. Sounds like you're looking for a full suspension XC or trail bike, which there are a lot of options. Have you decided on wheel size yet? I'm on an epic 29er right now and looking for something a little more trail oriented (more fun) and less all out race machine. So I've been looking at 5" travel 650b (27.5" wheel size) bikes. The good news is that there are so many more demos these days to be able to try before you buy. I'm close in size to you too, feel free to send me a pm if you have questions.
The new trek fuels are nice. How about that. My fat a$$ needs to get back on a bike. I'd love to do some riding. Or just grab a beer and talk watches lol
Just about anything over 3500is personal preference. I have been on 4k trek fuels and 8k pivots. Not much of a difference. Now if you start getting into DH freeride bikes you can drop some serious coin. But. Do check out some of the 29rs out there.
Always down for either, although you're not going to get me to be hucking off stuff like you pictured.
I will just throw in some mood pics from my hobby workshop. Not a carbon or alu frame in sight... My dearest Masi and a "rainbow" Merckx MX Leader in Merckx own version of MAX tubing - the MXL. The black and green monster is a special. A Bianchi Proto (Columbus MAX tubing) in Caurus disguise... A 1964 Bianchi Specialissima with new chrome - waiting for a celeste paint job and Cinelli Supercorsa waiting for better times. In the left corner a Bianchi Centenario. A 1972-3 Colnago Super waiting for a salmon pink metallic Sophia Loren - always a classic. As are Campagnolo Record high flange hubs.
