Although I’d never buy at the inflated prices, I followed a couple auctions for the new blue 58 out of curiosity and they don’t seem to be doing well lately. This isn’t the first auction I’ve seen not end very high. Maybe more people are more inclined to find a waitlist to join vs pay flipper prices?

Considering RRP + 7.25% sales tax (this is personal Californian eBay seller) and then the 10% ebay fee + 2.9% PayPal fee... this final selling price hardly seems worth the effort of the flip. The description made me laugh... really trying to milk the warranty card date stamp for a Higher value. Doing the math on this sale, after all the fees, the seller looks like they made less than they paid for it.

If it said 7/3, I wouldn’t pay his asking price, but since it’s 7/1 I’m hitting the BIN button

Just because watches are being advertised at a hefty premium doesn't mean they are selling at that price.

Given the weather is warm at the moment, I decided to try the Vanguard rubber strap out:

Looks good. Where did you get that from if you don’t mind me asking?

As killer67 says above - from Vanguard! Arrived very quickly in the UK and had to pay an additional £4 in customs charges.

I am particularly pleased with the quality of the brushed metal clasp. In addition, the Vanguard shield logo looks very like the Tudor logo!

seems like whatever supply constraints existed for the original bb58 have been fixed. . .

i would doubt this trades at a premium for much longer

Where is that the case for you? My AD says they've only seen 1-2 come through the shop ever, and that they can't even order one for me.

From what I've heard, most ADs have lists for the bracelet version of the watch. If you're looking for a nato or "soft-touch" version, most ADs have one or two lying around.

might buy a Tudor if the heraldic Tudor Rose returns to the dial... otherwise waiting for the 75th anniversaries of the Rolex Oyster & related 😁

It is.. A navy blue bb58. There's no other way to describe it. Not sure it's ground breaking enough to really gush over but I'm sure I'll be wearing it all summer

Congrats - I was a bit like you at first too. But it just works and wears so easily. Hope you enjoy it.

Just for fun I've negotiated with a few eBay and Chrono24 listings. I'm usually able to get them pretty close to what MSRP + tax would be for me from an AD. A few of my local ADs had strap or soft touch ready to buy, were going to make me wait 1-2 months for bracelet. It seems like these are readily available! I own an OG BB58 and waited 2ish months to purchase a year after release. I think the release is generally well done -- if we need proof that Rolex viewed it as a success, they did announce that the Crown proper would be doing some releases this year after all just a week or so after all this.

I’ll be honest, I can’t notice much difference. I find them both really nice to wear, albeit I wear them a little loose as I can’t get the exact fit on the bracelet.

quite why you would have a micro adjust less in total size than a link is beyond me.

I’m wearing the OG today. Whether I keep both is in the air at the moment. If I had to keep one, I might just lean to the blue.

They can't put the micro adjusmtnet on the bracelet. Then it would be as comfortable as a rolex lolol

For those who own both, which one would you keep if you had to give one up?

I sold the black to buy the blue. It was a close call but think I made the right choice for me. A blue BB58 was what I wanted initially. I do really miss the black, though, even though I don't normally like gilt watches.

That is very true. It’s fine, but the option would be good.
