·So, I got the call this week and went to have a look. Mine was a BB58 Blue on strap, except that the strap felt unaccountably thin and flimsy and was far too short for my 6.75-inch wrist, something the AD noted had been noted by a few other owners.
My feelings: it's a lovely shade of blue, nowhere near as striking as the Pelagos or even the 2019 SMP, but one that works well with the dial and bezel and that is both attractive and subdued. The Blue seems somewhat smaller on the wrist than the original 58, and the bezel on mine was a bit stiff to begin with. It wears as well as the original, slipping under shirt cuffs while still maintaining some presence.
I am now waiting on a proper strap, but haven't made up my mind to goi through with the purchase or wait on the bracelet. My sense is that this model works best on the steel. Overall, I was a little underwhelmed, but I'm sure it would have been different on the bracelet or had I not been carrying both my Pelagos and and SMP in for bracelet swaps. It's a good value at only 800 or so more than the BB36, and it is quite a distinctive blue and versatile blue, On balance, though, the blue isn't compelling -- for me-- on the strap and when set against the original and it has some strong competition in, say, the new Sinn U50, which offers hardened steel and a whole lot more WR.Still a lovely, understated piece with a killer movement, and according too my AD, a year-long queue. YMMV, of course.
