One of the reasons I like the 58 is the size, they make a 39mm pelagos ill be first in line.

when they went to 39 I had to have the BB58 on a rivet

A downsized pelagos in blue would have been the killer release. As it stands this will do until they do that!

I've got to say I like it.

I'm not a fan of faux lume and the gilt everything on the original BB58 is too much for me. Just looks like it's trying to hard.

I perhaps would have liked either a slightly different blue for the dial and bezel or even some kind of texture on the dial (like the Seamaster 300m) to lift the overall look, but on the whole it looks good and I'd consider thisnover the BB58 black.

R RMA
I knew they had something coming this summer and suspected a blue Sub & am contemplating on picking one up later thru the year. I really love the blue and scratches the itch if one likes the earlier blue 79090/79190 models that are twice the price.

In terms of value for money\quality there's not much competition imo.

Looks great - where is the jubilee from?

I have to say, it’s definitely a grower. When I got mine on Saturday I liked it but it didn’t make me go wow - probably due to the fact it’s not bright and quite subdued in some lights.

however, after 4 days of wearing I’m loving it. It’s just right for me. While not sunburst, the blue takes on different hues - from near black in low light to a rich navy to a lighter blue in direct sun. Overall, it’s a cracking piece and glad to have one.

The bracelet is a Steinhart 20mm jubilee and can be bought direct from Steinhart for 95 euros.
I used the Tudor end links and the bracelet is very well made and fits perfectly.

I will order one ASAP!

One difference between the 2 58’s I am picking up on is that the crystal on the new one Seems more reflective. I wonder if they’ve changed (or removed) ar coating.

I believe the OG BB58 had an AR coating on the inside of the crystal. Doubt they'd have changed it for the BBB58. Maybe it has to do with the reflectiveness of the dial? The black dial may be more of a matte finish?

I don't think you will be disappointed, just remember to order the 20mm bracelet and not the 22mm version.

One thing I noticed in comparing the two in hand is that the edge of the crystal on the blue is a tad more round than that of the black; dome as opposed to top hat if speaking in vintage terms, but the difference is very subtle.

It's be nice to see either version in real life someday. I stopped by my AD and tried to see about putting a deposit on the older model BB58, and I got the same response I got 6 months ago: "we can't do a deposit for something so far in the future - maybe a 12+ month wait." Dang Tudor doing Rolex's business model. 🙄

It’s obnoxious. Immediately after release a handful hit ebay as auctions, and they all finished between $4,700-4,900usd
People are idiots. Won't even be hard to get from AD (as long as people don't continue to pay premium).

Not sure that’s true. The original 58 is still hard enough to come by (on bracelet at least). I’ve only ever seen one in an AD twice In 2yrs. Still a fairly hard to come by piece.

Certainly in the UK, it's a case of putting your name down for one at an AD and waiting for your turn - it will come, and without any of the relationship building requirement you sometimes see with Rolex. If people exercise a bit of patience and are prepared to wait a few months, they can get one at RRP.

Just picked up a really nice Mido Ocean Star. Titanium w/ titanium bracelet, really nicely finished in a nice package. $1,040 MSRP; the only area that isn't refined is the bezel action.

I thought it'd be a fun beater but it's so well done I'm likely going to buy the two other Midos I've had my eye on, another Ocean Star with a smaller heritage design, and a pulsations watch. All three bought at MSRP would cost less than a BB58 at MSRP (assuming you can purchase it new anytime soon). In real terms from an AD or on the secondary market, I could probably come in nearly $2k below what I'd have to spend on a BB58 if I decided right now I wanted to buy one.

The Tudors are nice but there's much better value out there if that's what you're looking for.
